CC :: Durham v Nottinghamshire

A word for our bowlers. Very dispiriting for them to see the batting effort. Also noteworthy that Notts have seven bowlers in their side compared with our four (plus Borthwick). They’ve all worked very hard. Good to see Salisbury back and particularly with both his spells in the second innings he looked a real threat and doesn’t deserve to lose his place when Carse comes back.

Just saying mate:

🤷‍♂️

Same here, but in the last thirty minutes or so of today we’ve just planted a seed I think. If we fire them out quickly in the morning then we’ll have the momentum and with those boundaries you just never know.

One thing I will say is I don’t think we can bat as badly again in this game as we did today. Worcestershire have come right back into their game, so Warwickshire are unlikely to win, so the lads have got to believe we can still do it.
Correct and I stand by that view because he was playing well and we have little other options. He's since failed. I've got absolutely no issues rewarding players with game time when they've done well regardless of format especially in our case with very little options available. No red ball games for a while now.

So you wanted him in the side, he’s failed twice and now he isn’t good enough? Ha’way man, you’re as bad as chops if that’s your logic.

If a player is worth a chance you’ve got to give the bloke more than two innings to see what he’s made of!

Correct. I watched his dismissal today and it was embarrassing, that's enough for me concerning him. He scored 5 runs at Warwickshire which was poor and today his wicket was an absolute disgrace. Arguably the most embarrassing dismissal of the lot to be honest though Raine runs him close.

I agree regarding the manner of his dismissal, I posted such at the time - but it’s better sometimes to admit you’re wrong, than stubbornly refuse to concede ground. Giving players two innings to prove themselves isn’t long enough. No matter how bad they may look. It’s the kind of thing England did in the 90’s and we all know how shoddy their selection and performances were in that era.

Well of course I was wrong  . I've seen enough now. If we had a game next week in the red ball format I'd have Steel and Clark in for Dickson and Burnham, but we don't.

I would hope Trevaskis is given a chance in the remaining championship matches when we start in the 2nd tier.
If I was h and I didn't get an opportunity l would be looking for pastures new unless he has decided that his future lies as a T20 specialist.
Not even seen him round the ground this game. I'd imagine his isolation is over now?

Really not sure where Clark stands at the club what is he 27/28 and as it stands he is a T20 opener who goes out and had a go. Over the past 2 seasons he has done ok but failed to occasionally bgo on and get that match winning score.
Steele I think his time is probably up and will be released at the end of the season. Probably better give an opportunity to someone like Bushnell but then again where had he disappeared to.

After watching Bushnell in the 2nds T20 game I thought he would have got game time in the 1st team t20, shocked he hasn't so far.

Only really seen Trevaskis in the T20 but does he do enough with the ball for red ball cricket? He bowls a tidy line and length for the shorter game but (on the limited occasions I’ve watched him) he doesn’t seem to get much turn. Maybe he just bowls flatter in T20, not sure?

Trev should be in the side as our spinning all-rounder. He's got something about him this lad.

Anyway, if we and/or Worcs can take some quick wickets in the morning session we might have something to watch. Otherwise, handshakes at 4pm.
