Black's Corner plans to transform Seaburn tram shelter

:) Sorry mate, not with it this mornin!
No bother mate. It irks me when you get the same people talking bullshit on Facebook and people believe it so it becomes truth. The amount of times they tried to claim the new estate at Seaburn was being built on greenbelt land was unbelievable.

The shelter's in a pretty poor state of repair now. Given the swingeing cuts to local government finances, a lot of much loved buildings and structures have volunteer groups and 'friends of' or even establish trusts to ensure the upkeep of these places that people love so much.

Given the clear passion and love for the shelter that absolutely didn't only start the moment plans to change it were announced, I'm a little surprised that there are no groups who have been maintaining it or raising money to do so.

I just like the tram shelter as it is. It's a nice place to sit with a coffee mid dog walk and it has been a feature of seaburn for decades. I'm sure blacks corner do some lovely stuff but I for one won't be rushing down to buy some deli delights. It's in the wrong place for me
Luckily there are loads of unused benches right in front of it.

How can it be fine to sit in there with a coffee now, but when it's restored it's now in the wrong place for a coffee?

It must be difficult for the NIMBY types of Seaburn/South Bents to reconcile their objection to someone developing a Victorian Tram Shelter, with the prospect of having a poncy delicatessen and wine bar on the front.

The more development that comes down my way the better.
We used to look at South Shields as an area to emulate, now it’s far better than Shields and not finished yet.

They say shields is better for kids though. If that’s the case, take your kids to shields and leave Seaburn for the grown ups.
Hooray to that, miserable f*ckers.
