He had a golden ticket at the mags. After winning it was down to him, if they lost they blamed Ashley. They cut him so much slack for his negativity as well. Any other manager would rightly have been slaughtered for some of the bus parking and 11 behind the ball performances.

Our fans need to stop arguing with them over Benitez like.

Let them hold him in the highest esteem possible. For a manager who didn't achieve anything particularly impressive while he was there, his shadow and presence still hangs over the club and will continue to do so if he doesn't get the Everton job. It's just going to make the job that bit harder for whoever their manager is.

Got to agree with this, Inter and Real had some of the best players in the world and look how well Rafa did at both of those.

Oh, hang on.....

By that reckoning though Pardew should be held in higher esteem than Benitez but he was hoonded oot.

Doesn't make sense
You're right, it doesn't make sense when you look at it in a simple way.
Bruce got Sunderland 10th, 3rd highest league finish in 80 odd years. Yet Sunderland fans weren't happy with him. If you look at it as simply as he got 10th yet they didn't want him, then it looks daft that the fans didn't want him. But I know the story and understand the reasons.
Pardew got a 5th place finish, but he was wanted out for the 2 and a bit years following that. There's way more to both the Bruce at Sunderland and Pardew at Newcastle story than simply "5th = good, fans = bad".
Why out of interest? He’s shite.

100% right, as your previous post was.
“He got wuh promoted”
Aye, by spending £90m
Was only £20m mate

When we finished 10th under Bruce it was our 3 highest finish in 65 years, still shite like.

Should've been higher, but it was a total collapse, and by a lucky turn of results it ended up 10th in the end.
On the face of it that looks good doesn't it?
But the details are that it was shite.
Same as Pardew being 5th in 2012 but despised 2 seasons later.
Same as how Bruce equals Benitez at Newcastle but one is liked and one isn't.

It all looks simple on the face of it, but the details among supporters are the important things. The context of how these things come about.

No matter what anyone says about Rafa I reckon you lot would have him over any of your last half dozen managers. If, for some unimaginable reason, he was in for the Sunderland job then the majority on here would be delighted.

Ok

I'm not the biggest Rafa fan in the world, but when he left I was gutted because I knew it meant we'd be getting Bruce (or worse) as a replacement. As for that clown, Wraith, I have no words to describe him accurately.
