Lack of transfers concerning?

Feels like the summer a couple of year ago when Donald thought he was selling to Campbell so just fucked half the summer off with all his eggs in that basket until it fell through and we signed Connor Mc and paid Cattermole off on the 1st July.

Ditto. Oftenwish i could sack the bastards off for good.
90% misery.
The Euros are helping tbh. I'm certainly not worried about transfers yet though. We spend most of the year thinking about safc, it's nice to put it out of our heads for a bit. Most people at the club won't have even returned from holiday yet.

Slight concerns here. Predominantly because I hold the belief that when we finally get our recruitment right we'll have previously identified targets pretty much lined up as opposed to our usual end of window dip into the bargain bucket.

A wise man(Moltke) once said that 'No plan ever survives first contact with the enemy'. My point, is you can draw up a brilliantly cunning plan but if its not adaptable, then your going to freeze in the headlights of history and reacting in panic accounts for most of our poor choices.

The understanding this time is we are going to be extra careful and going to get it right. But if your not looking for value unrecognized by other clubs(Sabremetrics), then your fighting over the same player with a host of other clubs who aren't mugs and have the same data available as we do. I had hoped KLD had continental links to agents and was going to deliver a sort of Di Fanti Six and at this level, its a fair bet a few would have flown under the other clubs radar and if all are technically good we could have injected some pace/skill alongside the big heart players signed from a scottish second division club.

Surely the total opposite. New owners here for the long haul who have planned for the players being released and who may replace them.
Typical Sunderland left behind every season then left with the shite that nobody else wants
Typical message board thread every window for every club.

Nothing to be concerned about for the coming season really,

Rookie owner
Rookie DOF
Adopting a data driven approach but investing in the market leading software is not in the club's budget
Manager without a promotion to his name
A squad which still includes Burge, Flanagan, Dobson, Aiden O'Brian and Will Grigg and is most likely about to lose it's most creative player and the leading scorer.

Fair points well made. I've been hoping KLD would have a few continental irons in the fire myself, a couple of quality loans would be a real coup.

Any source as to where anyone said get them in early?
not doubting you, would just like to hear myself
Lee Johnson at the end of the season said he wanted some in early due the large amount out, otherwise it’ll ‘make the pre-season pointless’ or something like that.

Has everyone else in League One been signing players left right and centre? OR are we the same as every other club?

Possibly could be seen that way, but what I have stated are facts. The way I see it is that is quite a list of variables that all need to come good. I believe there is a new head recruitment bod also but I know nothing about their credentials.

Always preferred the strategy of waiting until late in the window, panic buying random shite and overpaying them when they don't fit into the system that the manager wants to play.

Would hate to change one of the few things we've become good at.
Late in the window usually means panic buying. Then come the excuses, “if only he had a preseason!” “It’ll be better next year after a full preseason.” Frankly I am sick of hearing it.

They are one interpretation of the facts certainly.

You could just as easily have said:

Enthusiastic, billionaire owner (x3 if you're just looking at board/directors) ..... in League One
Young, hungry, and respected backroom staff, DoF, etc. recruited from teams higher in the pyramid than us, rather than from Oxford and Eastleigh
High calibre boardroom in place (certainly compared to what we've endured for the last decade)
Investment in recruitment, data analysis, etc. suitable for a club much higher than we are currently
A squad ripe for a much needed and long overdue overhaul, and truth be told none of us will miss Wyke

Unproven manager, but let's see how he does.

I'm not saying everything is rosey, but it's certainly not all a disaster either.
