Durham v Essex

Well back home and enjoyed my return to the Riverside and after the initial first hour or so of feeling like a stranger and being frightened to move from my seat I got back to being at my 2nd home and even managed to have a chat with a few folk who I hadn't seen.
To be honest as far as the cricket goes nothing really changed with the pitch dominating the match and medium Pacers bowling straight wicket to wicket looking unplayable. I was actually surprised how up beat Essex appeared to be when they came out to bowl. It looks now that they knew 180 wasn't that bad a score.
How had Pepper lasted so long  technique was... interesting
Pleased someone else noticed that l watched him today and thought he batted like the tin man with that stiff front leg. But when you score the runs he got compared to every other batsmen it sounds a bit churlish.

Enjoyed every minute today being back, seeing cricket friends and having a bit craic. Scoreboard says it all, how Pepper managed to get what he did was remarkable, but runs are runs. Frustrating for Durham but I thought Essex bowled well though I'm already questioning these new wickets. Back tomorrow

Apologies I will not be going again

Not sure they are any different. I was hopeful after the Derbyshire match but that appears to be because of the cold dry April. Never mind as you say great to be back!

The last session was disappointing but like many have said it was just great to be back seeing the old faces, having a catch up, seeing the oystercatchers, having an ice cream and then just sitting and relaxing in the sun watching the best sport there is.
Absolutely disgusting the exorbitant inflation busting increase in ice cream prices mind.
£2 for a single soft cone you could get a double cone for that price the last time that we could attend😩😩

I surely can’t be the only one who wants to see Philip Salt and that Pepper lad batting together some time in the future

Best combination since “the burger topping”. Mustard and Onions

Brilliant day - great to be outdoors in shirt sleeves and sunshine watching cricket live - but frustrating final session for Durham. I thought Sam Cook bowled superbly and our batting just couldn’t cope with him. He is definitely one to watch. By comparison our bowlers were not as sharp from the very start though did well to finish off the tail so rapidly. We shouldn't be surprised at the wicket given recent weather conditions, it must have been damp and was clearly seamer-friendly. I think Essex just exploited it better than we did. With the exception of Pepper, batting from both sides was comparable with lots of low scores. His knock could prove to be the key difference that decides the game. Glad Salt wasn‘t batting too to rub himself into our wounds! Let’s hope our tail wags in the morning. Can’t wait!

Everyones at it atm some taking the piss more than others. Boozers, sarnie shops, grub places, holidays companies, hotels, theme parks..... all seeing what they can get away with to make a few extra quid.

I picked up the 2021 Yearbook this morning and noticed that within the pages there's a list of all the Durham Defenders (over 1700).

Undoubtedly the first and last time my name will appear in there I reckon.
Bought Tim's book, read the first two chapters and it's canny👍
I bought a copy during the tea interval and have made a start on it. Love reading anything about DCCC and always enjoyed his writing.

Mustard n Onions was ridiculous, I still dont think enough was made of it

Being a bairn walking round the ground hearing that I loved it, combine that with Will Smith, what an introduction to cricket
