Find it ridiculous that they have the blue tick verification process for “celebs”. Surely everybody who opens a social media account should be verified.

Also think that anything you view / screenshot should be water marked with your user id or some way of identifying where it originated from.

And if the abuse is such, then that's deliberate racism.
If they're just saying "You're shit" then it's more random and dickish, and actually doesn't make sense why anyone would take the time to be that much of a twat.

I never said it wasn't deliberate racism. I said that people are being picked at random.
 
Has the racist abuse of footballers just started or has it become worse? Is it more visible because of social media?

Yes but not because he was Grant Ward of Blackpool. Trolls are looking online to see who is posting and then send the abuse. They don't go online to attack a specific person. It could be any black person.

I do find it worrying that this is the initial reaction. You might be right but you also have to look inwards and believe it might be a Sunderland supporter who is a racist bell end.

Social media abuse is being reported on a lot more now, I have no idea if it's more prevalent or not.

There's a part of me thinks the focus on it might make people who want to abuse footballers use a racial element because of the attention. But what can you do except for publically denounce it?

Something needs to change mind. ID to register is the obvious idea, if it was up to me I'd do away with all the big platforms and go back to forums only. If you had to link id to stay on here I wonder how many would still do it, would stop the endless stream of alt troll accounts if nowt else.
I would be all for it, my account is in my real name and my sky email account that matches my name, anyone willing to say yes or no to the ID requirement ?
