Haseeb Hameed

Watched the highlights of his innings the other day and his technique looks absolutely perfect. Tiniest of triggers, playing the ball late and excellent placement.

A player doesn’t come into the England test side and look as good as he did at such a young age without huge amounts of talent. He quite obviously wasn’t ready for it mentally in terms of everything that comes with playing international sport but at 24 he’s still got a lot of time on his side. A good season this year and he should be right back in contention given the dearth of quality at the top of the order.

Robson and Lyth both having good/great starts to the season.
Lot of competition for those opener spots come June, hoping Hameed continues with his form as hes the youngest and looked the best of the 3 when playing for England.

Can't wait to see Hameed and Sibley opening the batting. A return for Denly at number 3 and we might break a 100 runs in a day.

Jokes aside, it's great to see him returning to form. Burns is under pressure and we need some openers to pushing for a place in the test team. I like Lyth but his ship has probably sailed.

A top talent, but test cricket is a lot about whats in your brain

This lad goes through massive confidence issues where he overthinks it, and can barely hit the ball.

I am not sure how that kind of person could hold up the rigours of a test tour in Australia for example

I could just see him getting into another rut again of low scores.

Good to see him scoring runs though, not sure he is anywhere near top of the queue though, lots of runs this year

Just noticed other day that Crawley is bang out of form, although I think his game is suited to the flatter pithces or test cricket and the quicker bowlers, so probs not too relevant

Cant see Burns lasting the year personally so yeah anyone who scores runs is gonna be in the picture.

He was shite against us, 10 and a duck. Bracey from Gloucestershire is getting a lot of deserved attention, in relation to test selection. Lyth is also in good form.

I would say, at 33 he's had his chance, but Silverwood was at Yorks/Sussex the other day.

Interesting. Aye, its not even his age for me, just the way he plays, fairly attacking player, need to be seriously good to play that way and open the batting in international cricket

as you say Silverwood now in full charge, can't rule it out.

Lammonby at Somerset is highly thought of

and Daniel Drummond Bell at Kent

lammonby is but started poorly

drummond well out of the picture now.

just from reading all journos Bracey will be next In line

i reckon they’ll want 2 or 3 years of hameed in CC before they go there again, no rush he’s that young

I definitely think that many players try so hard to make it into the England team that when they get to the pinnacle and fail it sets there careers back a mile. Robson, Lyth, Stoneman all got their chance on sheer weight of runs and when they got back to county cricket they have really struggled and it is great to see Lyth and Robson show some good form again. Jennings and Hameed are other examples.

Concurred. Chunky is just being a twat, DBD (and Jennings for that matter) is right out of the England frame now. Lammonby is a terrific prospect.
