CC :: Essex v Durham

Great caught and bowled by Borthwick.

For some reason RTD kept on going back to full tosses and yorking himself.
Walter looked really uncomfortable against the leg spin imo as well.

No matter what happens in this game

this shows why surrey was a really bad move for borthwick, said all along from the way he left

good move for Rocky, but Scott was durhams number 1 spinner in all formats, first choice number 3 and captain in waiting

he went back to being a part time bowler at surrey and ended up losing his batting position

I get a young lad moving to south London for more money would be class but in cricketing terms it set him back big time in my opinion anyway

his bowling has regressed massively as he just hasn’t bowled

good move for Rocky
Not sure about that, he's struggled after his first season down there. The Rey said he'd personally drive him back to CLS.

Need this Walter fucker out early tomorrow so we aren't chasing 100+ with Harmer ragging it sideways.

204-6 (68 overs) Walter 46*, Harmer 5*.

Essex lead by 41.

Extra overs here..... Must be 18:30 Close.

Now it’s Close.

208-6, lead of 45.

Don’t fancy chasing many more than 120 tomorrow like, could do with the timber being rattled early tomorrow morning.

He has struggled like. When he returned from NZ he found out that his unborn baby was seriously ill. When his son was born he needed a heart transplant at birth and it was touch and go for a long time. I think his priorities have changed a bit he certainly hasn’t made a lot of runs in the last 2 years.

What do we need to say to kybosh these two?

You can't bowl a team out on one new ball (unless its Australia in 2015 obvsly).

TBF Essex were vindicated using spinners as they took seven wickets.
Didn’t suggest we would - just that we could have broken their spirits with 3-4 wickets. As it stands we’ve still got a massive chances of course we have. Not sure they’ve been vindicated using spinners when they surrendered a 160 run lead in the first innings on a seaming green top mind

Cricinfo’s (Andrew Miller) close of play report proves undoubtedly that they should never have trimmed their county reporter number......

Still got to win the game.

But I feel like this will just help those argue for removal of 2 divisions.

If teams occupying division 2 for a while best division one teams

interesting point here re: captain in waiting.. i never really thought of scotty as a potential captain, obviously collingwood was here and did a terrific job, am i right in thinking whilst he (colly) was still here coggers captained the t20 side to try and get him ready as a potential captain, then he left then.. my memory is awful for this sort of stuff.. colly retired the same time? leaving us with bancroft, then eckersley and now borthwick, if i'm right?

I wonder if we ever suggested to borthwick, as part of those contract talks, that we could make him captain once collingwood retired. that may not have made a difference to him mind.

It worked mate, he got into the England team and played all 5 tests in Australia, for a local lad in the north east, thats a pretty good career and something to live with I'd say

I dont think he got on that tour if he didnt go to Surrey personally, which is a shame.

Poor lad. From the way you tell it is all ended happily, at least I hope it has.
