CC :: Essex v Durham

GERRIN!!!! 🐠 🐟 🎣

ten Doeschate c Eckersley b Carse 4.

A vicious bouncer which RtD tries to duck out the way of, but leaves his bat high and the ball takes the edge and loops to Big Eck at third slip!

Essex 36-5 (14 overs).

You've got to be careful with those lads on the Ready go Go forum. Nice one Marty.
Shoutout from WHED

Lawrence is doing a good job digging them out of this. Never looked at risk unlike the others.

Feels like we need another seamer, so Carse is only bowling short sharp spells.

You don't need 5 seemers

Depends on the team.

We don't use much spin, especially this early in the season, fourth seamer is a full shift. Carse is an impact bowler, has fitness issues and tails off sharply after a couple of overs.

We're arguably missing Harte's medium pace.

I agree on Harte, with regards the fifth seamer - I don’t think our batting is strong enough.

Potts or Coughlin for Poynter. Done alright behind the stumps but can't remember the last time Poynter got a score.

He’s the wicket keeper of choice clearly, I’d argue Eckersley being free of the gloves will lead to him batting better, but do we really want bowling all-rounders coming in at 7 downwards?

Coughlin is a proper 50:50 all-rounder. If his form was better this would be a no brainer.

In 2013, when we won the title, we had seven bowlers in the team: four seamers plus Borthwick, Collingwood and Jennings.

I don't think Eckersley's batting will be as important when Bancroft returns.

Get in, Raine
