Back Johnson in the summer to bring in his own players and then judge him on results next season. If we’re being honest apart from McGeady this squad isn’t great I didn’t think we’d be anywhere near automatic promotion

It's difficult to be confident when he brought in Carl Winchester, who he had worked with for years, because he was a Championship level player, yet he can't get on the bench.

Yeah true. Managers need time though, he’s had 1 window when Donald was still running the club. We need to get out of the habit of changing managers

Mind, that wasn’t the narrative about the transfer window at the time. The vast majority were saying the window was indicative of a new approach to recruitment and evidence of KLDs involvement (as was the appointment of Johnson, Speakman et al)

That said, I take your point.

Too much tinkering even allowing for injuries.
Some questionable team selections borne out by multiple substitutions of late, and even cocked that up last Saturday when two out of four stripped subs came on, Charlton scored their winner, and then on come the other two.
Very messy.

worrying reading looking at his record with bristol city , usually something like 10 games unbeaten then suddenly out of nowhere 10 games witout winning.

January windows are difficult because most clubs don’t sell their better players midway through a season. He probably went for Winchester as we needed a midfielder and he worked with him. I don’t think he’s been terrible but he’s not stood out either

I'll just never understand why, when the only thing that mattered was getting promoted, we went for a manager who has never been promoted (or made the playoffs) in his life.

I think Winchester's been shit, and I think the longer the season goes on, the worse that transfer window looks. Stewart was injured and looks lost, Jones isn't as good as he first looked, and Vokins has not been good.

Warnock was busy
Mick mac was busy

The thing is, a manager is never perfect. When they're winning we only roses, when they're losing we only see the manure.

The roses in this case is the fact Johnson has fairly modern ideas on the game and can be quite charming and funny.

The manure is that he can try to use that charm to deflect from bad situations while also having too many ideas and over-thinking situations that seem painfully obvious.
