Which of these scenarios is preferable?

1. Ashley and Bruce keeping them in 17th place, wasting £40M on crap players, continuing with a boring style of football, revolting fans (arf arf) while we build a team sustainably that is good to watch.

2. Relegation, Bruce staying, their better players leave, we get promoted (hopefully), both clubs at a similar level.

3. Mag oblivion, successive relegations, Ashley sells to southern spivs, their grey seats are replaced, mags kidnap some horses belonging to their new owner, southern PR mogul calls Geordie women ‘ugly dogs’.

At least that would be a change from Geordie scrap metal merchants doing it 😁 😁

In order: 3, 1, 2.

3 is obviously the most desructive to the club but 1 is a slow painful death, 2 they’ll bounce back from.

There isn't a goalscorer in either team..(Fulham /Newcastle)..Maja.. Useless imo..Lookman... Always has to beat his man again before attempting a shot..Mitrovic..not fit and not good enough... Joelinton.. Well the less said the better.. Wilson...the best of a bad bunch but even he's not great. .10 goals i think he has which includes 4 pens.(I know you have to score them but a centre forward should be scoring them and of course his injuries don't help)..The one player that could make the difference is St.Maximin..an excellent player who won't be there next season ( so will he care)..

St Maximin wont be daft, safety first in terms of his own fitness so he can get himself away from the sinking (or stinking) ship.

How long we as he actually there after he relegated them ? Was it 2 or 3 full seasons ?

Newcastle United

On 11 March 2016, Benítez was appointed as the manager of relegation threatened , signing on an initial three-year deal. He suffered defeat in his first match in charge, losing 1–0 away to eventual champions on 14 March. Benítez would have to wait until 16 April for his first win in charge of The Magpies, recording a convincing 3–0 victory over in the Premier League.

Newcastle ended the with a six match unbeaten run, including a 5–1 final day win over third-place Tottenham Hotspur. However, the team was relegated to the due to rivals claiming 12 points from their final six fixtures. On 25 May 2016, it was confirmed he would remain as manager.

In May 2017, Newcastle won the and made an immediate return to the Premier League after one season in the Championship.

On 24 June 2019, Newcastle announced that Benítez would step down as Manager upon the expiration of his contract, and he departed the club on 30 June 2019. Ashley criticised Benítez following his departure, stating that Benítez's demands made it impossible for him to remain as manager. However, in an interview with The Athletic in December 2020, Benítez stated he was left no choice but to leave the role due to disagreements with Ashley, describing him as "a businessman who I don’t believe really cares about his team."

Lets fast forward and test this logic, will the EFL really pass this takeover when the Premier League won’t?

If the EFL went rogue and did pass it through would/could the Premier League refuse Newcastle entry even if they finished the championship in a promotion spot?

The EFL test has the same criteria as the PL one. And, having had their fingers burned so often recently, they're taking it way more seriously than they used to, Derby's still hasn't gone through, and that went in ages before ours. Wigan's is just back in for a second attempt with different buyers. State murders aside, the simple fact is that the Bein pirating makes them an automatic fail.

“So what does that mean for the takeover”?
