this has been hanging around him a lot
Confirmed now as not in the ODI squad
England ODI Squad: Eoin Morgan (Middlesex) (captain), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Sam Billings (Kent), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Sam Curran (Surrey), Tom Curran (Surrey), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Matt Parkinson (Lancashire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), Reece Topley (Surrey), Mark Wood (Durham)
Reserves: Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Dawid Malan (Yorkshire)
Indeed. Presumably rest and rotationNo Woakes?

It needs to be looked at this properly. Moeen goes home, then has to fly back and sit in a dug out during the T20s.He has been treated hideously this winter then

woakes, topley , parkinson all spare parts. It’s not working properly imo and they need to get it sorted
Agreed. The selection policy is a mess currently. Root not in the odis is a strange one.Woakes was never going to play any of the tests barring injuries, now we’ve lost our best odi bowler, makes no sense whatsoever.
Also, with root not being here why is Malan only a reserve? Why on earth would you play Billings or Livingstone over him?
He needed a rest tbf I don’t mind him missing outAgreed. The selection policy is a mess currently. Root not in the odis is a strange one.
It’s knacking @Dexter competition entryHe needed a rest tbf I don’t mind him missing out
It will be 3-0 to India no doubt about that. Morgan has been great for English white ball cricket but I’d like to know the reasons why Plunkett and Willey were cast aside. Nobody can tell me they aren’t good enough for that odi squadIt’s knacking @Dexter competition entry
im fearing a bit of a battering in these odis, I hope I’m wrong but looking at the bench yesterday, there were a lot of glum faces, even before the defeat.
maybe they just want out of there now
I can understand plunkett as he was 30s or so, and it felt like the natural end to his cycle of playing. He could only go down, so I felt it was appropriate for him to leave at the topIt will be 3-0 to India no doubt about that. He's been injured for a year and half. He’s got a lot of criticism regarding his pace on this forum. Perhaps we’ve been too harsh
England are the current champions after winning the 2019 edition. The next tournament will be held in India in 2023.TBH I thought Plunkett still had something to offer and iirc there’s a suggestion he was treated poorly in how he found out. Not sure how true that is but if it is true it’s pretty shabby for a WC winning member. Also the treatment of Hales is starting to raise a red flag for me.
The rotation policy I didn’t have a problem with to start but I’m frustrated with it now having seen how the Test series played out, the T20 series has carried on in a similar vein and to see players like those mentioned missing out while the likes of Bairstow and Buttler missed Tests and are now going to play in a meaningless 50 overs series is just nonsense.
Prioritise the 20/20 stuff in a WC year fair enough but this surely would have been the ideal time to rest those who had played the Tests and 20 over stuff and give games to those who haven’t.
When is the next meaningful 50 over tournament?
Surely this was the time to rest and rotate, a meaningless 50 over series when we’ve just had a World Cup and no big tournament on the horizon.
Will the IPL players be staying on in India or will they be coming back in the meantime? Anyone know?
Thought there might have been a Champions Trophy upcoming, think there would have been one due this year given the last was 4 years ago but can’t find it listed anywhere, maybe Covid has put paid to it? Or has it been discontinued?England are the current champions after winning the 2019 edition. The next tournament will be held in India in 2023.

Next edition: 2023 India
Number of teams: 20 (all tournaments); 10 ...
as for the ipl players, I think they will be staying as I assume they will all be inside bubbles for that tournament
Looks like the T20 is replacing itThought there might have been a Champions Trophy upcoming, think there would have been one due this year given the last was 4 years ago but can’t find it listed anywhere, maybe Covid has put paid to it? Or has it been discontinued?
Either way no WC till 2023 renders this series null and void as far as I’m concerned and makes a mockery of the fact that Test regulars are going to play when they’ve missed Test matches. Ridiculous.
