Disappearance of Sarah Everard in London

Such as if they have an employee accused of a sex crime, maybe don't leave them in power while they they murder someone.

I think we've covered this. Read back through the thread. Essentially, given the nature of that allegation, it's very unlikely any response officer was allocated to go and check CCTV of the incident let alone identify the man as a police officer even if they had. The met don't have enough cops to go to every burglary or robbery so it's unlikely someone was sent out to a report of a drink bell end flashing in a take away.

Thats alright then.

What annoys me the most is that piece of shit saw an innocent young woman walking along and decided that he wanted her, that he would take her and that he would murder her. A woman doing nothing wrong, just walking home, minding her own business and now she's dead.
Yep, cant imagine her terror as the penny dropped on his intent. He will pay for this.

I hate that they used the word 'opportunistic'. It feels really wrong. This is a hate crime, you have to really, really hate women to do something like this to a woman, you have to think that they're shit and not human. Using the word 'opportunisitic' also has a subtext which believe me women pick up: 'don't give them the opportunity, girls'. I.e. putting the onus for containing shocking male behaviour onto women yet again, exactly what so many people have been calling out this week.
Exactly, “Opportunity” shouldn’t really apply to criminal offences, it’s only an opportunity because someone has decided to do it. It’s basically saying “ I wouldn’t usually rape someone but she was on her own, I realised I could so I did. I wouldn’t meticulously plan it so I’m not a real pervert”. It excuses responsibility by suggesting it’s somehow less abhorrent or it was almost “ accidental@.

I think it's used to differentiate between unplanned, spur of the moment actions and those that have been clearly set out, organised to a degree and designed to appear as an accident or self defence for example.

There will always be people who have extreme views, e.g. 6pm curfews for men. But when it’s boiled down, it’s educated me about how to behave if I happen to be alone in a space occupied by a female I don’t know. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that women feel potentially threatened by every man they see when they’re isolated, be it walking home, in a lift, etc. I wasn’t aware of that.
Where have you been all your life ? do you not have female family members, friends, work mates, a girlfriend or a wife.
I feel ill that a man gets a suspended sentence for an attack like that.

We all know the lines MT, it really isn't confusing. We all know what is and isn't acceptable.
Thats a common defence ploy if you read court reports. If the mental health card cant be used its would lose job or miraculously the accused has a job offer when the trial starts

I wasn't tarring all police with the actions of one...

You don't have to work in the police to be familiar with the technology. I didn't say I worked in any force you numpty

Did you miss the rest of my post about it and latch onto the assumption that this was some magic machine? Yes you did. Must be a police officer.

Have you seen the state of some of the CCTV people have? A page on the met website is all well and good but operationally i would suggest this is used in exactly the situation described. High profile acts of violence like riots and multi million pound murder investigations. I can tell you now its not used and is not entertained for low level crime. So no i didnt latch on to any assumption. Its from a cop telling you first hand that its not often used/available/accurate. Its also not used alongside or as an alternative to a viper procedure.

Also due to cuts I know that it can take even northumbria police up to a week to obtain and review cctv footage of a serious assault so whilst not excusing flashing the fact it was in a takeaway on London would suggest it was a drunk twat rather than someone who may pose more danger to the public. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

4 of the above 5. Thanks for asking.

If your thoughts about how women may feel (I’m surmising that you’re male) when they’re out on their own haven’t changed this last week, then I wish I had your wisdom and insight.

Last week I wouldn’t have batted an eyelid about walking 20 paces behind a woman at night on the way home from the pub. Now I would. I’m happy to be educated.

Nothing has changed it wasn't safe in the 80s 90s etc for women to be on their own or men. Walking home from town always kept my distance from a woman and same from blokes often deviated through Thornhill or sidestreets to be safe and take a longer route home if was getting too close
