If you're on about the place I believe we both worked I can confirm there was quite a few even back when I worked there.
They always seemed to be the ones who were disliked before anyone even knew they were into that crap.
One bloke in particular was probably the most snide, two faced tosser I've ever worked with. I believe he's no longer with us.

The same place indeed..it was rife with them..not that I’ve anything against them..a lot of them have retired now but at the time the back scratching that was going on was ridiculous..the one i referred to from Hartlepool is the biggest arsehole I’ve encountered in my working life..I think I know who you mean anarl..😅

religion and politics are actually frowned upon as subject of discussion within the lodge.
free masonry is a different beast to the older bygone days and as a youngun in the lodge we are encouraged to talk freely with people who ask questions outside of the lodge. you just cannot share the ‘secrets’ which are basically passwords and various handshakes. It’s not for everyone as the ceremonies can seem odd at first but when u understand the meaning they make more sense.
My missus calls it the ‘funny fellas’

Been to few up there, and they stop halfway thru and break out the whiskey
