Like we did Hughton?

If you honestly think Benitez is a average-to-poor manager, then you crack on. But it's clear to everybody that we were improving year on year under him. The only reason some Sunderland fans are obsessed with downplaying his ability is because they perceive his support to be over-the-top.
10th, 13th and then 13th is improving?

That would be juvenile, if that was the case. But it isn't, so we're all good.

Benitez was loved because he played a savy PR game, got the fans onside, delivered on the pitch and showed ambition beyond survival. But, according to some juvenile Sunderland fans, it's purely because he's famous. Not like Steve Bruce famous, a different kind of famous.
Played a savy PR game = moaned about lack of funds to save face.

Got the fans on side = slag off Ashley.

Delivered on the pitch = boring defensive football.

If it was anyone else (Warnock, Pardew, Curbishley, Bruce) they would have been slaughtered.

He's done that everywhere he has been, yet the media lauded over him. A better Phil Parkinson.

Promoted, 44pts, 45pts is improving, yes. The second 13th happened under Bruce, where we got 44pts again, scored 4 fewer goals and conceded 10 more.
Apologies you're correct, the second one was Bruce. It's the positions you need to look at for improvement though, not points. Facts are you finished three places lower than the previous season

Football wasn't as thrilling as it was under Keegan or Robson, no, but it was well organised, well coached. As it was under Hughton. And there was some really good performances under Benitez where we played some lovely stuff. Of course, that's ignored.

If Bruce played effective boring football, he wouldn't get half the shit he does. but it's just garbage.

What about the first two points?

No, it's not just positions as league positions can be impacted by other teams playing in other games. The points you win or don't, the goals you score or concede, these are things you can judge yourself on.

Some seasons getting 45pts is enough to get top half, sometimes it isn't. Nowt you can do about it.

They're, at best, half the story.

So it's all about the points and not positions?

By that logic 2nd place and 85 points is better than 1st and 80 points.

I agree Pardew hs had the most success for you lot in recent years

Well, no, because he failed to get you out of the third tier, didn't he?

Rafa failed to keep you up, didn't he?

Yet you never shut up about him... we don't care the only reason he gets mentioned is as you never shut up about him.

Main reason you won't see it is because our fans aren't sad knackers so we wouldn't harp on a Newcastle board about our old manager who failed at his job.
