India v England series

Just caught up with the highlights, having seen all of the morning's play. To be honest, I think we did as well as we could have hoped for. Stokes put in a superhuman effort, again.
We look likely to lose, but we could have a dog's chance if we can get the remaining wickets quickly.

I want to give Akash Chopra some credit on TalkSport's coverage, I genuinely feel he has been unbiased and spoke a lot of sense in the series. If you compare it to the T.V. pundits it's night and day.

I also agree with a lot @The Rat says, knows his cricket

he needs to tone it down sometimes, someone can disagree about cricket, but he reacts as if someone has murdered his first born child

Haha true like

Not said out today though

Not sure what happened!only mentioned an Lbw and England’s selection policy
No worries, don’t really like to see people being baited. I’ll be honest I like and agree with lots of what you post, I don’t think I’m the only one. I think you often come across badly as argumentative or antagonist but often if I read what you’ve posted back later it reads in a different way. Might just be me. I know we take the piss on here about certain things but I think it’s done in jest. Certainly on my part anyway.

Aye no doubt about that like

No hate about it, just take me with a pinch of salt mate if you can
Hopefully there isn’t a big overreaction to a 3-1 defeat. Some ordinary batting but I think we have played some good cricket at times especially the bowlers (Jimmy and Leach). Chance to put things right in the summer when we face them again

Aye we’ve bowled their top order out well, albeit on helpful pitches

The batting lineup is just too experienced for me in these conditions

@Salem Street South was the point I was making about Jennings, I’m not saying he’s the answer but with 4 or 5 batsmen in their early 20s, no warm up games, players going home. We really needed just some steady lads who can play the turning ball

Literally just like a few more partnerships in the last 2 tests and we could have won

It’s been too much for the young lads in my opinion

Plus Buttler n bairstow went home, and stokes was say undercooked

And selection in last 2 tests too

Just caught up with this thread. @The Rat and I have gone hell for leather at eachother in the past, but he's a good lad, loves his cricket, and has definitely calmed himself down lately. Doesn't deserve some of the shit he gets at times.

Anyway, disappointing today. Looks like that's the series gone, but I think we all predicted 3-1 or so anyway - and I think we can come out of this winter with our heads held high.

I'm already over my ultra-frustration of this morning, and looking forward to rising early to watch us knock over the tail, before piling a huge score up. Thats how I roll on a Saturday.

Agree to win three Tests away from home any winter is good going, never mind with the challenges we’ve had this winter. Just don’t think they’ve had to work very hard to get on top in these last three Tests, which is a bit disappointing.

Hope we can beat them in at least one of the white ball series anyway, to round off the winter, just to shut their fans up a bit

I hope you're right!

We've got the full white ball side, so I think we'll do them in that.

Tbh we were not great in the second Test but not awful, personally I'm discounting the third "Test" because it was an absolute farce.

We were very good in Sri Lanka, phenomenal in the first Test here, so I'll take that. I think going forward there are more positives than negatives for me

Let's not forget as well, we've been completely fucked over by Smith and his bizarre selection policy. So I think the lads have done alright

I’ve said it before, I’ll continue to say it. Umpires call is bullshit, its out or it’s not.
I agree. What is the point of having technology that takes away the guesswork (for that’s what the umpire is doing albeit based on experience of the sport and current conditions) and then having a system where the guesswork overrules the technology?
Same for everyone and a fairer system for me, as rules out unconscious bias.

Umpires call needs to be reviewed. Can’t have a ball hitting the stumps flush and being given not out. If more than 2/3 of the ball is hitting the stumps it should be given out. The ones that clip the stumps could be umpires call to allow for any discrepancies in the technology but that last Pant DRS decision just makes a mockery of the decision.

The umpires call was just simply wrong and then the technology has somehow backed up a very incorrect decision. Not the on field umpires fault as they’re human but haway
If there are discrepancies in the technology then perhaps we need better technology 🤷‍♂️

My tuppence - the trouble with Umps call on DRS, is that the majority of LBW's are Umps call. So the DRS is fairly pointless, as the Umps decision gets stuck with. May as well not bother having it.

I know what I mean  .
