Too many people judging him on some recent fortuitous figures and not on what he’s sending down.

I won’t judge him on one over but Finn and Kerrigan were deemed unbowlable in recent years - he’ll be getting in that territory soon if he doesn’t improve.

I think there are some spinners playing NEPL level that are better than Bess. His ability in the field and with the bat, alongside a friendly Taunton surface, have got him England caps. The dearth of quality spinners is a real problem

Not a strong argument that one really. On spinning surfaces, top level NEPL spinners would pick up a few high profile wickets. Scott Borthwick took four wickets in a Test match in Australia. There are better spinners with more control playing NEPL than him.
