India v England series

I think root was saying the third umpire is only checking one angle. He definitely lifted his foot there

still it’s spinning square and we choose one spinner
Could see the impact of pressure when his weight went on his foot after the stumps were broken, it had to be in the air

Imo I could see a point with woakes and Bess playing instead of broad and archer.

we had to play two spinners, and if they have lost confidence in Bess, send him home and play virdi

leach is showing how much spin there is, on a first day pitch.
They made a mistake dropping Bess for the 2nd Test & not just backing him but I understand why they did and think it was a tough call all round.

His runs & wickets had been valuable up to then but he just lacked control in that 2nd innings to such an extent that they weren't left with much choice.

I also think it was done to protect him - if they'd got after him again my feeling is they think it could have scarred him. The last we need would be him to get the yips.

Its easy in hindsight, but my preference was to play all 3 spinners in that 2nd Test, and going one spinner here feels like another big mistake, although to be honest I'm not sure who I'd have left out, Broad possibly and I'd have liked Woakes in there too, however 12/13 into 11 doesn't go.

Problem is with the shocking batting from England, we have put ourselves in a position where the poor umpiring decisions become a secondary and moot issue. Yes they are definitely dubious, yes the pitches are not great but we have to be alot better if those things are to be highlighted as issues that influence the match. Overwise everyone outside England will just say we are pissing and moaning because we lost and were outplayed by the Indians.
