If Roots sweep shot had went to hand would it have been as terrible and disgraceful shot as Burns apparently was? To be honest both of them would have just been miscalculations which is what probably 80% of dismissals are. Whether you are out sweeping of a top edge, playing away from your body to slip, playing around your front pad to get out LBW all essentially poor shot choices its just that some look worse than others imo. For Burns he chose to reverse sweep, start to move the field around which is what players were doing all of the time in Sri Lanka - poor choice against Ashwin who gets more bounce but the outrage was a bit much - just a poor choice of shot which happens all of the time.

Need Root on strike to keep the runs flowing. Yes Sibley is grafting but his scoring rate here leaves a lot to be desired.

Sure you won't agree @The Rat but I expect more than 65 off 229 balls from an opening batsmen but there we are. He's digging deep, and asong as he can nick singles and keep Root on strike for the time being then we'll be fine.

Neither here nor there mate. Complimenting each other beautifully. Daft little digs about his scoring rate, the pair are batting superbly.

Anywhere but the sub continent I would agree on that, but here he's doing exactly the right thing imho, staying in and frustrating the bowlers while Root scores the runs. It's excellent test batting.

Sibley’s contribution is fine for an opening batsman whilst you have someone as proactive as Root at the crease, and after a period of consolidation when two quick wickets were lost.

The pitch is slow too as is the norm in Asia.

Sibley has been excellent

. Aye that's what I mean, I still expect a bit more on the board runs wise mind, he could comfortably have probably a good 15 - 20 runs more at this stage. But yeah, I see your point with regards to having Root at the crease.
