India Series on FTA?

That may hinge on how well England do mind. Hopefully the uninitiated won’t think we’re shit because we’re not doing great on one of if not the toughest tour on the circuit
Agreed. A canny few will probably watch the odis and t20s only

That's cool, its all cricket at the end of the day.

I'd consider myself a purist, Test/CC above everything, but my first ever game I attended was a T20. There's no way in Hell red ball cricket would've held my attention as a nipper

Gateway drug effect. 🤞🏻

If England win it will be some achievement in the tests. I hope our leading players root, stokes, jofra really turn it on to inspire a few

If we win I'll be amazed. I think we're slightly underated as a side (by our supporters I mean. I think we tend to expect the worse) but India imo is THE toughest place on the planet.

I'd be happy with being competitive in 3 out of the 4 tests and losing 2/3-1

I said the other day, the only England win would be 2-1 at 12/1. I can’t see a 3-1 or 4-0 weather permitting.

to win, we need to win the toss, bat and get a minimum 350 every first innings.

And get Kohli early every time

Absolute minimum that I would say. You need to go really big in India. Last time we batted ok first up in most Tests but they just gazumped us with 5,6 even 700s

Agreed but I always return to my old favourite, a lot of series are turned on contributions from the bottom five, either with runs themselves or helping the top order turn 70 odds into big tons.

if our bottom order chip in, at least we will be in the series

Gonna need your man Bess to fire and Archer to prove he can actually bat!

I can remember a canny few hanging around outside tv shops, watching the cricket back in the day. It’s the sheer volume of sports available now, no time day or night or part of the year it’s on , so has diluted interest

I used to have a Saturday job in a sports shop in Eldon Square and during the 81 Old Trafford Ashes Test Match they had to get security to move the crowd outside who were watching Botham on the telly which was situated inside the shop as they were totally blocking the entrance and indeed the mall. The past is indeed a foreign country.

 Not seen much of that lad but have read he was not the fittest player for Surrey
View around the Oval was that Stewie has really harsh on him, so we'll see! Sure England wouldn't have selected him if that was the case

Don’t know if you went to roker park but there was a programme shop, nearby and there was always a crowd outside, when they stuck up final scores on paper in the window, also people looking through windows to see if they had grandstand on with the typewriter

It came out when I was in my late teens and became my drink of choice (I first had it on a bus to Swansea in 2013) but these days it's not something I'd go for - but I'd rather drink rats piss than Fosters!
what bus you travel on?
test cricket is the boyo like. by far my favourite format. can't wait for this India series to start.

Half time entertainment when the scores from the other matches went up on the wooden board scorecard at the Roker end with the alphabet letter to check from the match program. Christ thinking about it now it was Jurassic park at Roker park and it feels like it was just like yesterday.

  Remember it well and then we went technology mad with the “Attack” electronic scoreboard in the roker end
