Mags last 9 games;

Fulham (h) Drew 1-1 (Fulham dominated and had man sent off)
Brentford (a) Lost 1-0 (Brentford played a second string side and dropped their top goalscorer)
Man City (a) Lost 2-0
Liverpool (h) Drew 0-0
Leicester City (h) Lost 2-1
Arsenal (a) Lost 2-0
Sheffield United (a) Lost 1-0
Arsenal (a) Lost 3-0
Aston Villa (a) Lost 2-0

2 points from 21 in the league, 2 goals scored and 11 conceded. Out of both cups.

Their next 9 games;

Leeds (h)
Everton (a)
Crystal Palace (h)
Southampton (h)
Chelsea (a)
Man Utd (a)
Wolves (h)
WBA (A)
Aston Villa (h)

Only one game there against a side currently below them. Those games v Leeds, Palace, Wolves and WBA are huge as its difficult to make a case for them picking up points outside those matches. Even if they win two and draw two of those 4 crunch games, they could be right in the relegation battle at the end of those matches.

If I were a mag, my concern would be how easily sides are beating them and how they make Sunderland look like a free scoring side at the top end of the pitch.
You were doing ok until your last paragraph

Fulham play Brighton and West Brom in their next 2, so some teams below them will be getting points. Leeds is a strange one, we all know they’ll create 20+ chances but it’s a question of how many they score. They’ll also concede chances.

Given that Bruce went for an ultra-defensive 5-4-1 against a Sheffield United side who had previously picked up 2 points from 17 games he'll probably go 10-0-0 against Leeds.

The reason they are so angry is the takeover, they built up that hope and then it was snatched away. Their business in the summer was bad. Hendrick got a very long deal, Fraser showed last season he’s not a player with fight and Wilson isn’t as good as his stats suggest, he got more yellow cards last season than goals. Jamal Lewis is pretty poor too.
Classic Bruce really. This is what he does.

Has one or two solid seasons with a gradual worsening of the quality of the football, then the results stop coming, then he tries and fails to remedy things in the transfer market*, at which he's utterly hopeless, and fails to motivate even his own signings.

The final stage has probably already begun, he loses the dressing room and fans (he's lucky they're aren't any right now), gets sacked, claims he was never given a chance and blames someone else, typically Sunderland.

*until he retired, this would always include the signing of Alex Bruce

Worse goal difference than Fulham anarl..Fulham have a game in hand anarl.

Which is against West Brom

The 7 pt lead will be cut to at least 6, but could be 4 very shortly.

They also play Brighton and Burnley in the next few weeks.

Obviously they have to win them, but the pressure is seriously on

Definitely, his signings are so lazy. Remember the summer of 2011, signed Gardner as he scored a few goals, signed Vaughan as his pass completion was best in the league, signed his mates from man United who were passed it, signed wickham as there was a buzz around him. Almost football manager like. You just know he will have looked at Wilson and Fraser and thought ‘wor them 2 season before last were good together’. The excuses are already starting, he will play the long Covid card (not disputing its bad ofcourse but they seem to be only club who refer to it, half of the clubs in the country have had an outbreak). His comment the other day ‘we will do it my way’. I don’t think Ashley will get rid of him though, no fans makes things more safe for him.

Just watching the news and he said “And now today’s FA Cup, if you don’t want to know the scores look away now”, he then told you the scores. He must of meant look away and stick your fingers in your ears.

When Geoff Shreeves said the managers takes responsibility when things are going wrong and Steve Bruce looked like he was desperate to argue that point

Seem to remember that his chief scout died suddenly a few days before the infamous 5-1 game. Until that point Bruce actually had a reputation for being pretty good in the transfer market but guessing that said scout was the brains behind the recruitment at that time, his recruitment everywhere he has been since has been appalling.

Seriously, I watch their games these days (got nowt else to do out of work hours:neutral:) unless they clash with ours and I cannot even remember us being as toothless as they have been lately. They just don't look like scoring a goal and are pathetic at the back. That is a dangerous combination and teams are getting them beaten by half time and then strolling through the second half to conserve energy.

They should be very grateful for the few fortunate favourable results they got at the start of the season as they are every bit as poor as the sides below them.
