That's not a fact of the matter, it's your opinion because it leans into your prejudice. Benitez made us feel hopeful because he spoke ambitiously, he organised the defence and had us playing defensive football well. We immediately bounced back as Champions and were rarely overwhelmed in Premier League games.

We don't like Bruce because he's shit, he's been shit most of his career. Before Newcastle he had the lowest win% for a PL manager with over 200 games. Bruce has been defended by pundits and we've been told that he plays the same way as Benitez (and been told he'll play attacking football). He doesn't do either. He sets up with 5 at the back, but then doesn't press, is easy to play through, gives up loads of chances. We are often overhwlemed in Premier League games, not just by the elite clubs, but by rock bottom, winless, worst team in PL history, Sheffield United. So it's like saying a Lada is the same as a Volvo because they're both cars.

Losing by 3,4,5 goals shows your defence is shit or their attack was amazing. Conceding 3,4,5 goals to Brighton, Leeds, Norwich shows your defence is shit, because their attacks are not amazing.

Before RB joined we were told by Sunderland fans that he definitely wouldn't, well he wouldn't stay after relegation, well he won't get promoted, but only cos we spent the most, well Aston Villa might have spent more but Newcastle had a better side anyway, well we wouldn't go up as champions, well he'll not keep us up...
Now that he's gone apparently the football was terrible, and Bruce is just as bad, even though we are now scoring fewer and conceding more, and getting fewer points per game.

The bottom line is that because Newcastle fans supported Benitez, some sunderland fans twist themselves in knots to criticse him, and because Newcastle fans don't support Bruce some sunderland fans will twist themselves in knots to defend him.
 good god there is so much wrong with that post I don't even know where to begin.

Benitez organised the defence, whilst also organising the attack, all in all that lead to almost identical results and finishing positions in comparison to Bruce over the course of the season, you need to get it into your head. It couldn't be any simpler.

The style of football from both managers is absolutely shit. It's boring, negative and uninspiring. Bruce has even admitted himself that the players are used to playing a low defensive block under the previous regime and he wants to change it, but when he does, it doesn't work and you get beat. Thats failing of both Benitez and Bruce, not one and not the other. Collectively it has been shit.

Man City have conceded 5 to Leicester this season, Liverpool have conceded 7(!) to Aston Villa, 3 to Leeds. United have conceded 6 to Spurs, 3 on numerous occasions across all formats, it doesn't make them permanently shit.

Benitez stayed because of the money and you are absolutely barmy if you think it was for any other reason. Echoed by the fact he fucked you off to go to China, then blamed it on the owners, He has you eating out the palm of his hand man and you STILL can't see it.

I'm sorry but that's not how I saw it and I was always a glass half full person.
Benitez was riding on his ego and producing horrible football.
The only thing that was well executed was any player that did not follow his mind numbing orders.
Steve Bruce isn't faring much better, of late.

Said it before Nuke but you’re watching a different team to be one I saw under RB and in particular the last 6 months when Rondon and Perez were linking up beautifully. Going to places like Leicester and beating them comfortably and with some confidence, heart and swagger. I honestly honestly fundamentally disagree with your POV and would love to be watching through your eyes sometimes. Either way, regardless of RB, Bruce needs to go.

He constantly goes on about XG and XGA and what not, it's like a nerd at school trying to justify everything with weird f***ing statistics that have little meaning in the actual real world.

Hes a knacker with nothing better to do thats why.

Rafa was shit as is Bruce but because won something elsewhere they think it somehow makes them relevant at the top table again.

Thats the top and bottom of if just Rafa had them wrapped around his finger played them like a fiddle and fucked off at first chance for more money.

The confidence, heart and swagger in the 1-0 home defeat to Palace, 3-0 home defeat to West Ham, 2-1 home defeat to Wolves. 0-0 draw at home to, to be relegated Fulham, 2-2 at to be relegated Bournemouth, 1-1 away at Brighton. They were also inside the last 6 marvellous months by the way, thats without adding home defeats to Brighton and Leicester with a wonderful start to the season picking up 3 points from the first 30 available.

It's been shite under both managers man.

Of course there were shit results. There always will be. To be honest it’s a pointless circular argument, and unless you watched us week in week out (especially RB’s last 6 months when we were around the 6th form team in the league) it’s difficult to give a true assessment.

Either way, the fact remains SB has to go. He won’t sadly, we will wait too long and the damage will be done.

Much like the spell under Bruce with only 2 defeats in 12 beating Chelsea, Southampton, Sheff United (who were flying) and Bournemouth away (convincingly), drawing away at Everton & Wolves.

I agree its a circular argument and it all ends up showing that the results were very similar, good patches and bad patches, some decent football and some terrible football.

I genuinely thought that point was when Rafa Goes We Go. The delusion of where they think they should be is staggering
Have they just had a double drop? Perhaps a 15 point season? A year without a home win?

Your whole thing is based on the support given to Benitez and the contempt Bruce is held in. If we had hated Benitez and loved Bruce you'd argue that Benitez is better and Bruce is worse. It's mental. Everything shows Bruce is worse than RB, everything. Goals scored, goals conceded, points per game, all the performance stats, the journalists, the pundits, the fans, and your own eyes. But you're dismissing all that because what? Because you think Benitez was given too much praise? It's utterly mental.

You joker's loved Benitez for one reason - cos he'd managed Real.

The footy he served up was woeful too and he had you rock bottom for months!

Can we agree SB is just utterly turd though 😂

@Wolfbeard but but wuhve got an airport
Club is dead until Ashely and Bruce both leave
Wasnt going to but go on......

Hi @Wolfbeard @Benjamin @underwaterwubbleduck

It was really difficult watching 2 "shitty little teams" play concurrently tonight but I managed it

And guess what....THEY BOTH FKN WON

Even diver Wilson couldn't save you

Unfair pen..I give you Carroll pushing Dier into the ball to gain you an unfair point at Spurs

Fine night for both set of red n whites FTM
Best team won no complaints about anything Embarrassed to setup like Bruce did in a fixture like that. Laughing stock thanks to Ashley and Bruce and will remain so until they BOTH leave

I can't stand him personally. It's not just about his tactics it's around his attitude, he's always demanding 'respect' and what not. He often doesn't let interviewers finish sentences before answering the question or jumping down their throat. It's all a bit weird because people who seem to know him personally think he's great bloke but from what I have seen he just comes across as a total bell. It's always everyone else fault but his own.
