Haha aye because that’s the only reason our club is in our state

Jesus wept man, jokers like this still defending them

It’s beyond belief it really is

Shame on you
What are you talking about? I said there’s more important things to worry about than a nobody and his dad. Don’t think I defended anyone either you clown.

Jesus wept man...

‘Cos the kit man was made redundant and his son who has never played a professional game of football has followed him?

jesus, you’d think we sacked Alex Ferguson the way people go on about John Cooke and his son.

Plenty more important things to sort at the club.
You're missing the point.

A football club, THIS football club, is not just about how it does on the pitch but how it conducts itself off the pitch. It is not the most sacrilegious decision of the Donald era, but that speaks more to his piss-poor conduct during that time. This man has given three decades of his life to this football club, from the highs of the Premier League to the lows of League One. If loyalty is not extended both ways with that type of person then no one is safe. It's one thing to back your club, but it takes backbone to know when they've got it wrong, and his lad was right to stick up for his dad.

This lad was not right to stick up for his dar in this way on that platform. He’s made himself and his dar look stupid.

I’d be mortified at his spoilt brat of an outburst if I was his father.

As he rightly said, family comes first.

If it was my son spouting off on the internet on my behalf I’d be utterly embarrassed for myself aswell as him.
Tbf I think it was an organised family effort to tweet as soon as it was official. There were other members of the family tweet similar messages.

I also think it was the wrong thing to do.

The way John Cooke was dealt with was utterly appalling by Sunderland AFC so lets not have any rewriting of recent history just cos his lad has moved to the Mags. If they had an ounce of integrity and professionalism in the clubs senior management, they'd have put it right and publicly apologised well before now.

As for the lad, I thought it showed real courage and character when he stuck up for his Dad. The easy thing would be to say nothing and hope it didn't affect his own career.

I'm not in the least bit surprised he's gone up the road and I wish him well - unless he plays against SAFC or he makes the first team.
