Anyone know why Cooke was let go?

Seemed like a spiteful move at the time but maybe there’s more to it.

...
Surprised the club haven’t tried to sort things with John seeing as the new owner is coming in. Seems a silly thing to let lie and would be good PR to get him back in. Surely just rehire him.
.. Looks like any chance of that has now been scuppered..

Is he a Lads fan as well? Followed him on twitter for a while and he seemed to put more stuff on about Man Utd than anything else.

Understand why he's done it and I believe he's a good prospect. However, its a really crucial time for him in terms of whether he makes it and moving in these circumstances can come back to bite the lad. Longer term he may well have made a mistake as no 17 year old is guaranteed a career. Good luck to him though.

Performances suggest our results will fall away.
I'm 'kicking off' over shit performances, shit performances that lead to getting bummed by Brighton. A poor GD is just evidence of bad football.
Money is being spent, as it was under McClaren. But then the purse strings were tightened again. I wouldn't be surprised if Ashley claims poverty again in the summer. Bringing in Wilson and Fraser could be good business, buying Joelinton for £40m was insane. Begs the question, why would you spend £40m on a forward who doesn't score goals, that your current manager says isn't worth half that? And why wouldn't you let that manager spend less than half of that on a proven goal scorer?
Consistency doesn't necessarily equal high quality. Brighton players are playing consistently well (for their level), how many of them would get in the teams of the elite clubs?

Being hard to beat doesn't mean you have to employ Hodgson or Warnock. I don't want a 'big name' for big names' sake. In fact I'd prefer my club to be run well enough that I trust the MD, or Technical Director to appoint some relative unknown in the mold of Potter or Hassenhutl (before they took PL jobs).

The football is worse, much worse. You didn't see that graphic before the Liverpool game? Touches, passes, shots, passes in Opp half, passes into final third, passes into Opp box, touaches in Opp box... all 20th. We're also bottom 5 for Goals For, bottom 3 for Goals Against, bottom 3 for Pass %, rock bottom for possession. I see we're shit, fans says we're shit, pundits says we're shit, journalists say we're shit, oppo fans say we're shit, players say we're not performing, manager says we're not performing. But some Sunderland fans would have you believe this is all bollocks...

Getting into Europe doesn't just earn you an extra £9m. You'll get money from European competition, you'll attract better corporate sponsors, better players and so on.

Right now, the fans would be happy with an owner similar to most in the Prem. One that wants more than mere survival.

Other than those two points, I largely agree.

Benitez favours defensive security over excitement, I've never denied this. However, Attackers do cost more, traditionally, and Benitez didn't have full control of transfers.

Woha looks like I touched a nerve. Just accept your an also ran in the premier league and success is staying up. Once you get your head around that you;ll feel much better. Maybe form an AA type group with other 92ers as a form of therapy. Your average in the bottom half of the top league in england (the richest league in the world) There are a lot of teams doing worse than you, a lot of teams criminally mismamaged over long periods. Some like Bury have gone completely (I know a Bury fan and to see that happen is not fun believe me). Its all relitive but FFS give your head a shake man! I won't reply further as I can't be arsed to read half a page of utter shite from you. Go and moan on your own forums or wank over your 1992 nufc annual.

So St Minumum has been seriously ill with Covid, lots of their players have had it too, and Bruce says that maybe there's an argument that it's morally wrong for football to continue even though he understands the financial implications of why it does continue.

So obviously he's getting dog's abuse from their fans for saying people's health comes first.

You'd think with one of their players displaying symptoms of long term covid they might cut him a bit of slack, but no, shoot the messenger because of who he is.
