What could Howe do with your squad? You don’t have the players to attack the opposition.Whichever fullbacks you play leaves you weak in those positions. You lack pace throughout the team. Will Howe accept he has to play Joelinton?

Benitez was better for them than Bruce tbf, in the same way that Keane was better for us than Bruce despite never finishing 10th. We wasted the one period in my life that we've been an ambitious club on Bruce, who always downplayed our expectations, the bloke is only interested in his own reputation. He's a fraud and I hope he manages Newcastle for years to come.

But has a worse record in league and all competitions and proceeded to relegate them. However he didn't get hammered as much and had a structure.

I don’t agree with that at all. We have plenty attacking players and in Fraser and Wilson 2 he knows very well. Almiron, Fraser, Wilson, Lewis, Murphy, Gayle all have pace.

Well if it was about ego stroking then when Hughton got the job we surely would have been upset? I have read thread after thread where people have explained why they felt Rafa was doing a good job but in the most part you disagree which is fair enough.

Hopefully Bruce goes soon. Wouldn’t mind seeing Eddie Howe in, but think Bruce won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

You watch them more closely than us mate. However, you must see that any quantifiable comparison between Rafa and Bruce suggests that Bruce is doing a better job albeit marginally. As outsiders looking in you must understand that this blind devotion to Rafa causes a degree of hilarity amongst us.
We all know that Rafa played the media like a kipper, Bruce hasn’t got that skill to blame anyone but himself.
Is it possible for you to summarise in just a couple of sentences why Rafa is so revered when his time in charge of your club, if you believe the current period is shite, must only be described as really shite?

But he rebuilt them after going down, and to be fair to him he tried to run them as a football club rather than be Ashley's bitch, wanting Rondon over Joelinton. The fans acted like embarrassing teenage girls over Benitez but I am happier they have Bruce who will achieve nowt and will tell everyone it's not his fault.

This is what my mag mates say:

1) At least Rafa's team had a structure and an identity
2) They didnt get as many hammerings because they had a better defensive structure.
3) Rafa improved players and Bruce hasn't (although I have pointed out that Almiron didnt have a single assist or goal under rafa)

However even if you accepted all of those things to be true it hardly accounts for the hero worshipping of the manager with the poorer record and the hatred of the one with the superior record.

I can summarise but know it’s fruitless. I would caveat it by saying yes, as an outsider looking in it may be strange, but that could be true of any situation. An outsider might look at the sacking of your last 2 managers as strange, however as a reader of the board I have a bit of an awareness as to why it was felt necessary.

I felt Rafa respected the fans, the job all while trying to not be a lickspittle to the owner. He spoke well, engendered respect with the way he goes about his work. He plays a pragmatic, defensive approach, of that there was no doubt and bloody hell sometimes it was frustrating. But every player knew what they were doing. He made average players better, and had the likes of longstaff looking good. He has an obvious bond and respect with the squad. He made mistakes, and bought some shite, but every manager does that. In the last 6 months (and I feel this is the bit missed/ignored/disagreed with we played some really good and entertaining football). We played on the counter with purpose and tempo and as a fan it felt like we had a chance in every game we played.

I feel none of those things with Bruce. There is no tactical awareness, players are going backwards at an alarming rate, and I can’t get excited in any way shape or form to watch us. We have picked up so many points through blind luck and it won’t last. He then insults the fans. It’s never his fault. He has spoken a great game and failed to meet the aims he is setting himself.

Points on board are points on board and they can’t be taken away, but isn’t football about more than points sometimes?

I appreciate that you may not agree/understand this but it’s how I feel. Not right or wrong, just my feeling.

Or alternatively:

1) He took them down with the likes of Sissoko, Wignaldum etc at his disposal
2) Got promoted after spending over 60 million in the Championship the second most ever.
3) has a worse PPG than Bruce despite having Rondon and Perez instead of Joelinton.

I agree with your last sentence mind.

At least you have had a good stab at it ;)

You have forward players, not players who have shown they can attack the opposition. It could be down to instructions from the manager, probably is.Fraser made a goal against Leeds by attacking, that’s once. When has Lewis bombed down the line and put a centre in? Murphy has been so ineffective as an attacker he’s now a right back.Gayle cannot get a start.Has he ever took a defender on and beaten him through pace? Almiron looks nippy but not nippy enough to get away and threaten defences on a regularly basis.I’m fully expecting you to be in a relegation fight before the end of January.

Couldn’t agree more Tommie. I think we will be there or there abouts come the end of the season. Agree with what you are saying, which is why I would like to see Howe as I feel he would encourage the attacking players to do just that.

Howe would probably try to attack more but I don’t think you have the quality behind your offensive players to stay strong enough for the inevitable attacks from the opposition.I get what Rafa did.He got you organised as a defensive unit.Under Bruce you seem to be a shambles when you have to defend in numbers.Chucking the towel in seems to be part of Bruce’s tactics !!! There’s a reason why Darlow is the Premier League’s busiest keeper. As a squad you don’t seem strong enough to sit comfortably in mid table. From what I see on MOTD,I don’t see 3 worse teams than yourselves, forgetting points on the board. Will Bruce be the man to bring you back up 😉😉😉

Hard to disagree with what you’re saying. We are awful to watch, the players seem to not know what they are doing and players are going backwards. It’s hard to watch. As for Bruce, Ashley will have to pull the trigger to protect his investment at some point but will wait as long as he can.
