With a marginally better record than the previous manager who you made excuses after excuses for. What were Bruces aims? What were Rafa's aims?

It’s just a pointless argument that goes round in circles on here again and again. If you feel like Bruce is a better manager or deserves to be in charge of any Premier league club then that’s your opinion.

Bruce came in talking about pushing us forward, playing more attacking football and repeatedly and consistently said we are aiming for top 10, which he has now revised to surviving, whilst blaming fans for their hysteria. A pattern he followed with yourselves and other clubs. I’m seeing none of those things, and that’s someone that watches us week in week out. So by his own aims he is failing.

Many of you don’t understand why most of us felt happier under Benitez, that’s fine it’s an argument done to death, but regardless, Rafa is 100 times the manager Bruce is and it would be relatively silly for anyone to suggest otherwise.

But here and now, 18 months in, I am deeply unhappy and disillusioned with Bruce’s performance.

We have been taken over by a young ambitious football savvy billionaire and they are jealous as fuck. Regardless what league we are in compared to them they would kill to have that happen to them

which is better than Rafas who you were satisfied with 😂 Purely to do with having your ego stroked. At least Sombrero accepts both managers were pretty shit it’s ridiculous being all defensive over one of them purely because of what he had done at previous clubs

But if it’s about ego stroking why was Chris Hughton so popular and remains very well thought of? He had done nothing before managing us.

but but wor rafa is a werld class managa

fuck me, do these people take a ' stupid ' tablet when they get up in the morning ?
There’s not a manufactured product on the planet that could make anyone that dumb. Only billions of years of evolution. Whilst the rest of us dragged ourselves out of the primeval swamp and evolved, part of them didn’t make it. Hence what you see now.

How could you think of him as anything else? Unlike Rafa he earned his respect based on what he did as manager of your football club. Takes over as full time manager in the championship, racks up more than 100 points for the first time in your history playing some great stuff and gets sacked when you are half way up the top division. Compare this to Rafa who came, failed to keep you up despite having the likes of Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Cisse, Townsend, Krul, Shelvey, Tiote, Perez, Mitrovic, Mbemba, Lacelles, Janmaat, Colocinni, goes to Villa who were everyone's whipping boys and barely tries to win. loses at Norwich, cant beat Sunderland at home. Gets promoted like Hughton did but not as impressively and having spent more than any club bar one at that level in the history of the game. Then proceeds to continue developing a PPG in the top flight slightly worse that Steve Bruce who leaves you deeply concerned.

He deserves respect but it doesn’t fit with the ego stroking narrative does it? I suppose sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. It’s hard to judge fully when you don’t watch a team week in week out I would say.

You can be pleased as things for you are looking brighter then they were a few weeks ago and with the Bruce/Ashley combo we may be meeting again quite soon.

Lest we forget Rafa's cup exits against lower league opposition including a 3-0 scudding away at Oxford, a defeat away at Forest, a draw away at Birmingham....... all in 2.5 years.

Rafa's 'werld class' and Bruce is a 'cabbage heed'. I suppose we just 'diven't undastand'.

Well it does mind. Any set of supporters will be happy with any manager that does a great job for them. Neither Rafa nor Bruce have done a very good job for you at all a combination of getting your relegated and playing dull, unimaginative football. One is loved by many the other is hated by many. Hence ego stroking. Its not about agreeing to disagree either its fact - I havent heard one NUFC fan put up a reasoned argument why Rafa is adored despite having a worse record than Bruce in the league and all competitions. Its all about what he did before he was manager of Newcastle United.

Well if it was about ego stroking then when Hughton got the job we surely would have been upset? I have read thread after thread where people have explained why they felt Rafa was doing a good job but in the most part you disagree which is fair enough.

Hopefully Bruce goes soon. Wouldn’t mind seeing Eddie Howe in, but think Bruce won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
