That’s what really confuses me. Fine hate Bruce and think he should do better. I can fully understand that feeling. But the delusion that Benítez did any better is like watching Stockholm syndrome in action. Not much in it points wise, both play awful defensive football, neither had any cup success. One left for more money, for a team no one had heard of claiming it was about ambition.

Only conclusion I can make is it’s purely about ego. Benítez had a pedigree that the Newcastle fans felt they deserved. Was never gonna matter what he did on the pitch. Crazy

Aye that and the fact that he always blamed Ashley when things were going badly. He knew exactly how to play their fanbase like a fiddle
