The change in the set up is hardly that much of an intervention. It’s not even new for SAFC. We’ve had this ‘model’ before under Short. It’s designed to take pressure and responsibility away from the board and the manager.

I’ll remain very skeptical until genuine evidence shows that there is major influence from the new lad and Sartori.

Donald wouldn't implement change that will require financial backing.

Speakman is highly rated in football circles. The Johnson appointment too is generally looked on favourably outside of an SR postcode. Young, progressive coach drops down a league from his ‘natural’ level to take on a new project. Whatever reservations we may have about it, from the viewpoint of the rest of the football world that isn’t a typical Stewart Donald appointment.

It’s not particularly looked upon favourably by those with a S70 or BS1 postcode.

As someone said on the other thread when short was trying to sell he didn’t speak to Coleman and left everything down to Bain. Why should Donald be involved if he’s not going to be involved?

And the entire modus operandi of employing a technical director (at least according to those who apparently know) is that they are responsible for coaching recruitment. If Donald didn’t want any involvement, he needn’t have had any

I never said that. If he has shares he will always be involved merely by his presence.
