It's nonsensical.Why are there 14 ounces in a pound but only 12 inches in a foot? Where does 3 feet gives a yard come from?! How do you write a foot and a half, 1.5? no that could be either 1 foot 5 inches or 1 foot 7 inches. Same goes for fahrenheit, at least 0C water freezes, 100c water boils, sensible. I am getting shorter and shorter when someone asks me what temperature it is and the first thing they do is some crazy algorithm to convert it to fahrenheit. I'll say it's about 20degrees so they do this thing and say ok so about 70 degrees, I say no, its 20c and no longer then 1800s. Like I say irrationally annoyed.
