This appointment will set the tone, shite underwhelming appointment and it starts on a flat note. Ambitious (or just the right bloke) appointment and it’ll give us a lift and them some brownie points.

A very important appointment in my eyes.
I think it will be quite high profile.
Parkinson has 100% got to know all of this is going on, with all the leaks. I'm starting to believe what was posted before that Parkinson has been paid a 'lumper' to stay on until it's all sorted. Plus his pay contract being paid up. Got to be.

Not sure if I misunderstand- you are saying a man under contract will be getting his contract paid up, plus a lump sum on top? Why would SAFC do that?

Why would the club need to pay any additional costs to keep PP on? He wouldn’t be aware of any appointment unless told by the board

Agree with this. I think we have to be prepared for a name we might not be familiar with though, given that the Sporting Director role is one that’s usually performed in the background.

Sporting Director "getting sorted as we speak"..according to Prehab.
Has he given any indication of the calibre or the credibility of who it is?

I was wondering to myself, if this is the same takeover that has been going on since the summer, whether either of the linked names then could be in the running. Craig Dean and Guy Branston.

Wouldn't put anything past these cowboys. What was mentioned few weeks ago.

Nah mate he hasn't. Not sure if he knows the identity himself??

I don’t want a fictional character from Hollyoaks and the Virgin dude’s son in charge of our club!

Spot on mate.
Getting that appointment right is as important for our future as the Manager, if not more so.
I’d assume the Sporting Director will be involved in the identification and appointment of the Manager or Head Coach.
Better chance of getting a good appointment if the SD bloke hiring is good at his job.

It’s crucial. The manager should be the SD’s man to hang his hat on. He decides what we’re to do and how we’re to do it.

The board should trust the SD enough to give him free reign to achieve the task at hand how he see’s fit.

I've no idea who I want as DOF, but so long as they go through a rigorous recruitment process and appoint someone with an outstanding CV and references within the game that set them apart, I'm sure I'll be happy enough.

Talking about rumour of Michael Appleton replacing Parkinson owa the road   Lad just came n mentioned it. Fuck me, i'd jack it all in if that was the case.
