Takeover News/Rumours

I've done this and I've had it done in 8, I've seen it take 21. But regardless, if I trailed the idea of investment/takeover to stakeholders as being something that could potentially be done in 6 weeks, you can bet that they'd be asking why it had taken almost 3 times as long if it got to 17 weeks.
With the the covid situation?

When you've seen it done 8, covid wasn't a thing

With the the covid situation?

Mrs works in M&A for the big 4, it hasn't slowed down most deals. In my case, I had a call two weeks ago that said 'we can do this as fast or as slow as you'd like'.

I said 'fast, because this is an 0898 number love'

My point being, that it's absolutely understandable if things take slightly longer, they don't need to give us blow-by-blow accounts, but we are a massive stakeholder in this transaction and freezing us out entirely after treble the initial estimate is equally bad practice as saying too much.

Oh, and I've heard a lot of people say that this is 'professionalism' because the owners and potential buyers should do everything behind the scenes without our knowledge - bollocks.

FPP, for example, were quite happy to show their faces and have things set up in their names publicly when they were doing DD on us. Are they unprofessional? No.

Donald was unprofessional in jumping the gun in what he thought they would do, but there is a happy medium where fans feel included in our club and this has been an absolute shitshow on that front.

Whats probably happened is that no one at the club could be arsed to take a meeting filled with uncomfortable questions, so they've came up with this advanced talks bollocks to keep us entertained for another few weeks, whilst peddling the NDA line.

Thats what I'm telling myself anyway until something concrete comes out.

This. Dont believe a work anymore that comes from the club. Its getting to the point where they could tell me they have a match Saturday and I would need to check

There's every reason while the deal is incomplete and NDAs are in place. Wanting to know is not the same as having a right to know.
Sorry mate, I'm not buying what they're selling.

These sellers have been involved for 17 weeks, or so it is claimed, and just now they want to cancel a meeting that in no way draws light onto them. They could easily nix any questiosn re: the takeover and still allow the meeting to go ahead no problem.

There is the slim chance something significant has happend and it has reached the stage whereby it's close to completion, but it's far more likely that it hasn't. This ownership group has a history of misinformation. I'm far more inclined, for that reason, to believe they are using the illusion of a 'near complete takeover' to dodge a series of awkward questions after back-to-back defeats and general fan unrest. They've shown themselves time and again to have thin skin when it comes to criticism, that's why Charlie was quietly shuffled off.

I'd also wager they have no good answer to most of said questions, and hearing that would only stir the pot more. I'll scarf down humble pie if I'm wrong, but this feels like a ploy.

Was my initial thoughts. Will be easy in a few weeks time to say "the ongoing covid uncertainty has put the breaks on the deal for now".
