Agree with everything you've just said tbf. Particularly the second point; he got his arse handed to him in 2014 by RIC in the same car and for me he's never recovered from that nor has he ever seemed fully comfortable with the 2014-current cars.....contrast him to the driver he was pre 2014 and it's staggering (and the RB he won titles in were not always the fastest).

Personally reckon he'll be collecting the minor points finishes at most races for 1-2 years at RP before packing it in. I'd say he probably knows he'll never win another WDC and he's just sticking about collecting a salary doing what he knows before deciding to do something else instead of driving (although I could see him going into DTM or endurance racing if he could be arsed) - good luck to him either way. A lot of people think he's a bit of a t**t but personally I don't mind the bloke, think he has a good sense of humor and seems pretty down to earth outside the car. Whenever he decides to walk away from f1 he'll at least be able to say he's won 4 world championships, drove for Ferrari and has been financially sorted for life.....doesn't seem bad at all.

Off track I agree , good sense of humour etc and seems down to earth. Things like Baku stick in my mind, and I just think , twat

Could say the same for Prost on Senna at Suzuka '89, Senna on Prost at Suzuka '90, Schumacher various times, Alonso deliberately knacking up Hamiltons race in the pits at Hungary 2007.

Many other champions and instances too.

In the heat of the moment the best have all acted like t**ts at some point.

Yet you dislike Hamilton, why?

The other fact that doesn't get mentioned much is; he started a family in 2014.

Maybe once you see your first born wriggling around in a pool of sick and / or orange poo at 0300hrs your view on the importance of 200mph dogfights changes enough to take the edge off your competitiveness.

Plus the lack of sleep... the bloody lack of sleep!

That was the pressure venting.

Elite level sports people edure enormous pressure.

You could say that incident was another key indicator in the decline

I don’t know specifically what you mean but you think that saying something mean is worse than (or equivalent to) avoiding tax?!
If we're going to be pedantic, Lewis Hamilton hasn't done anything wrong as tax avoidance is legal. Whereas it's a short step between saying some mean things about another country and being racist. I'm not accusing Andy Murray of this to be clear, just illustrating an alternative view on the situation.

For what it's worth, I think Lewis will get a knighthood when he retires.

Didn’t do Sir Jackie Stewart any harm...
Agreed, but he was only knighted in 2002

edit - 2001

I don’t think Hamilton has done anything wrong — and I’ve never claimed that. I would do the exact same thing in his position. I was just suggesting a possible reason for the apparent disparity between his and Andy Murray’s honours. (I thought it might be pertinent given the current debate about funding free school meals).
I also think he’ll be knighted at some point.

Today will be interesting as, at the start, the Mercedes pair are going to need a few laps to get the mediums up to temperature. Max will be all over them to get track position on softs.

I think today will see michaels record broken and a Lewis victory.

And a bit of rain wouldn’t hurt either!

The sweaties are going through a period of hand wringing over whether to elect Mel Gibson as pope so they really hate us at the minute.

Once they get that out of the way they'll come back down to earth and the petty comments may stop
