Bit of a mixed bag this season. Overall disappointment though.
Highlight includes the fa cup semi v Milwall. Only we could blow that opportunity.
Results were mixed in the league. Finishing third. I actually think we did well to finish third after the players who left in the summer. Play off heartache v Palace though.

Shite like Whitley, Breen and Robinson came in. Out went Phillips (£3m!!!) Schwarz, Reyna, Thome, McCann, Sorensen, Craddock, Kilbane and Gray.

Can remember John Oster having an ok season

Absolutely shite pens from mcateer and Whitley against palace after Neil Shipperly committing gbh On poom

It really wasn't an opportunity. It was a blessing in disguise.

Cheating bastards.

We were awful really.

Kyle had a brilliant season. It was poignant that we had a cup run in the year Stokoe died, but that Millwall game was rank.

Other than that, I thought we were crap. Dull football. Team of cloggers (minus maybe Arca).

The Palace second leg was awful - aye, their goal was a foul, but we had the whole of extra time versus 10 men and looked like we were playing for penalties. And up stepped Whitley.

Shout out too for us playing a game in the National Hockey Stadium. I think a few days after the cup semi. Kudos to anyone who went to Milton Keynes.
I wouldn’t say a blessing, I still would’ve liked a little trip to Cardiff for the final. Aye we would’ve been hammered like off a rampant Man Utd.
We almost certainly would have been hammered and in all honesty, I don’t think Europe would have been great either - we’d have probably lost in the qualifying round, and aye, ok, some lads on here would have had a pissed up continental away trip, but there’d have been about 20,000 fans at the SOL home game.

Me and a mate skived off school to go to that and the away Palace semi. Had GCSE exams the week after n all 😂
Awful trip Palace too. It’s bad enough travelling to it from another part of London, never mind the north east. Poom had a nightmare match - I think a 20 tonne whale would have slipped under him that night.

That Whitley penalty is one of the worst things I’ve seen in football. Ever.

Yeah the penalty summed him up. Absolute shite. If he was half decent I could maybe understand taking a penalty like that but he was oblivious to it.
From memory, I can’t remember what other options we had, but McCarthy should not have had him in the five takers. He looked like a beaten man as he walked up, it was so obvious he was going to miss. At least just welly the f***ing ball. I’d have rather he’d have smashed a window in the Black Cats bar than the pathetic little tap he tried.

Penalty Shoot-Out: OSTER (missed) 0-0; Johnson 0-1; SMITH 1-1; Freedman 1-2; BABB 2-2; Shipperley 2-3; ROBINSON 3-3; Popovic 3-4; BREEN 4-4; Derry (saved) 4-4; McATEER (saved) 4-4; Routledge (saved) 4-4; WHITLEY (saved) 4-4; Hughes 4-5.

McCartney, Williams, Poom and Kyle never took one.

Cheers. My mistake then, it went beyond 5 takers. McAteer’s penalty was crap too. The place went mad when Routledge missed.
