Does anyone else think that that in the long term, riling the Premier League through legal action is risky?

Win or lose short term, Ashley and Newcastle wont be making many friends down there.
I think their card is already marked in that respect mate.Human nature being what it is, I think the premier league will shaft them at the first opportunity.

Fair play, the lawyer he's hired literally said in May he didn't want to speculate on certain aspects as he thought he might end up representing one of them.
A lot of wrist action going on this morning on Tyneside when this broke but it could just mean Ashley is after compo that would be the icing on the cake to wind the degenerates up.
Nah, he's using the deposit to take a punt on getting the bigger prize -- the £300m. Imagine what he could do with all that.

Pissing in a fountain? Sorry you’ve lost me? Nothing will beat the wit of the airport or chicken town crack that you lot come out with.

Getting their own joke about cheesy chips wrong is canny mind.
Move over Peter Kay we’ve got a new comedian in town

I think there's a fair chance it goes through now there's a threat of court action. The PL can't afford to lose if the damages are big given lost revenue to COVID bail outs and the Chinese broadcasting defeat,

Yes i definitely think that withdrawn bid will go through now. I totally expect the premier league to back down and push through that now non existent bid.

what is the court case about? what is mike ashley looking for? because if its just about getting the deal done then im not sure how that would financially worry the premier league? if its about compensation, then yeah..... but still how much is that going to set them back..... probably nothing compared to losing clients with broadcasting rights? i dont know too be fair.... but im not convinced that the premier league are worried about this. They care about money, correct..... but how much do they lose with existing broadcasters compared to a court case with mike ashley? this is probably all about piracy in my opinion..... and also, how can mike ashley file a lawsuit in order to get the deal done? i could be wrong but wouldnt that be the process of the buyer?

and too add. the premier league could be in the wrong or could be correct..... but i dont see how a mike ashley lawsuit changes anything apart from some compensation.

I don’t get the ‘in the hope of reviving the deal’. The buyers cited covid and the economic situation as the reason for withdrawing. Ashley trying to force a rejection from the premier league but they don’t have to as there is/was nothing to reject as the buyers pulled out.

Which is the bit Newcastle fans conveniently overlook every single time. Theyve got so caught up in it, looking for avenues and circumstances where it might still be on, that the huge obvious reason it isnt on just gets overlooked

Unless these new lawyers he’s hired think there’s a strong case they can prove the premier league have rejected it without officially doing so. I can’t see how that would work.

I’m assuming the angle is that by delaying and delaying the decision they effectively rejected it thus the buyers walking away? Should be interesting to see how it develops

It’s a risky move.

One things for sure, the PL won’t want to look foolish, ‘if’ they have done any wrong doings. If the PL have acted accordingly and the Saudis simply walked away, they could shaft the mags.

At a guess, I think Ashley will just be looking at some sort of compo, Ie, he could say he had other buyers during the time they were farting about with the Saudis.

I think it's a dangerous game as there's potentially this HMRC case building against them. I am sure the Premier League won't be very lenient on them by the way in which Ashley is going about legal action.

Is there a HMRC case building or is that your wishful thinking?
