New pub(s) in Sunderland

Now planning to make it a nightclub apparently. Decision by end of October.

Of course it went down well with miserable old buggers on Sunderland history and memories;

Always a risk opening anything in that area of town. Just doesn't get the footfall after 7pm. Hopefully they make it a destination in its own right

Sunniside gets plenty so could end night in this new place after night down there. As itsplanned as a pub on bottom floor still it could be decent place after/before match too.

Was in the town last week and of all the pubs I usually use only Chaplins was open, Dun Cow, Fitzs, Ivy House all shut , never even bothered to try the Ship Isis, wasn't walking all the way up there to be further disappointed

I walk from the south stand to the train station without passing an open pub or shop now. Proper dogshit that.
So this may be a stopping point.

The Ivy has been open since pubs were allowed to - may be reduced hours during the day though

Used to love the town in the late 90s early 00s , The Pilgrim, Vestry, Sly McFlys, Brogans, Idols, Bud Bigalows, McCanns, Masters, Boulevard, Harley's n finish off in Ku. Good times

I would prefer a pub but don't begrudge the young uns a nightclub. There is only pzazz (not sure of its current name) and that club upside down in town now.
