House move - negotiating completion dates

Whose job is it to negotiate exchange and completion dates? Keep getting different messages from both our and our buyer’s solicitor and estate agent who both seem to be saying we need to speak to the other one to agree completion dates.

Not really sure what to speak to the estate agent about versus the solicitor.

Ours was two stage. Suggested window to estate agent, agreed with buyer then finalised with solicitor. The system is so archaic its unreal.

Forget the estate agent. He has done what he is supposed to do - all they are is a introduction agency basically, and you tell them what to do.
The solicitor will sort it out to your and the vendors satisfaction from there.

Just cut them all out and speak to the vendor.
Well we have been, which is why we know that she’s struggling with her estate agent and solicitor. But she initially asked us for a date, which was a struggle for us, but we went away and decided we could make it work at a push. When we went back and told her, she then said she didn’t think she could do that date after all.

So I’d rather deal with the officials because she’s doing my head in.

Be even worse when the solicitors are trying to sort it.

I wouldn’t expect an estate agent to be involved at this point mind

Accepted an offer on our place in June and buyer and solicitor still f***ing around. Asked for advice on here what solicitor to use and was told to avoid sweeney miller at all costs guess who the buyer is using....
