I’d be interested to hear who his backers are. Obviously there was the rich energy/Haas crap but at the same time they look like they’ve now went into super bikes and it hasn’t blown up so far.

I can’t see how a consortium pulled together by Micky Gray would be any different too. He’s also full of shite and a gobshite!
Crucially, it’s not the same people. He left rich energy and left the people he blames for haas taking the brand with him. Maybe he’s telling the truth and it was his nefarious business partners who fucked that all up. Not so sure myself like.

Thing is Storey loves the publicity. So if he somehow did actually have the backing he would do whatever he could to be successful and be seen as the hero while also making sure the money men dont lose out on their investment.
You would also get the same from a local group with money backing, they only want success for the club and the area.

I know but I’m just thinking back to a year ago when everyone was buzzing about fpp and, all the monorail talk aside, felt like an actual project for them and the fans. Imagine they bought us and it came out they had little intention of spending much money and were only in it for the profit margin.

I don't think it would have surprised me, there are plenty of examples close to home of very rich people running a club towards being self-sufficient as possible.

Nothing suggested they were ever going to throw money as we had no idea of their intentions past a few fanciful stories on here from extreme optimists.

Until then I’ll continue to believe we’ll be owned by Donald moving forward and that he’s not wanting to sell us until we go up. Enjoying the entertainment in the meantime.
Micky can come across on occasion as a bit of a gobshite but he’s a Sunderland supporting gobshite from Castletown. If given an option I’d take my chances with his consortium rather than some cockney gobshite who has no tie to our club or city.

Quite a few of us got loads of shit at the time for saying similar.

Say you have two consortiums and one has a frontman who’s going to take 15% and he’s a f***ing lunatic but is backed by really wealthy, business savvy investors while the other has a frontman who loves the club but his backers are f***ing lunatics. Which would you choose? (Not saying that MGs backers are lunatics like)

were focusing on the frontman alone cos we don’t have all the details. We can’t make an informed decision imo.

True but at same time it wouldn’t mean that he has a clue what he’s doing. We also don’t know who each of their backers are so hard to make judgement.

We don’t get a single say in any of this anyway tbf. We don’t need to make an informed decision, we have to hope the people who matter do the right thing.

To be fair, I think Reiver was weaving into the "facts" of his that the FPP plans were to make a legacy for the region and people got sucked up in that - it wasn't just eternal optimists and fanciful jokes about monorails, it was put forward as factual plans
