Sale is close - Barnsey

William's rocked up in town today, got his photo at all of Sunderland's famous landmarks plastered them all over Twitter.

Got invited on to the wireless off Barnsey then preceeded to tell us all we want to here, slag off Juan & mock Staveley (the mags) praise Short and is now with Rodwell having a few jars down the sea front.

Just a typical day in the life of following the lads tbh, oh and he's wearing a canny replica of the "last season at Roker" home kit.

Edit, also just remembered from the other "Rich Energy" thread unconfirmed rumours he "jumped" the metro from Central as couldn't afford the ticket due to his company being insolvent.

But it's all cool, because he's got 4 of the best, most well known business names in Europe to bankroll us to the Top 7 in the Premier 😎

Yes. This is the group I have been talking about and the one that had me genuinely excited etc.

If Donald mugs them off and goes with Storey it will be the straw that broke the camels back.

is this other group in exclusivity do you know, or was Barnes wrong about that?

So I see marra.

Was it the telling us we're a massive club with the most passionate, knowledgeable fans?

or that he'll want to put out a team of local lads supplemented with a few stars?

or that there'll be fan involvement in the board?

or when he had a dig at the Mags?

it was 'how to win over a football fan base' by numbers interview.

Just on BBC Radio Newcastle website mate. It's right near the beginning of Total Sport.
All of the above.

What do you make of Haas insisting they did due diligence then? Surely it suggests he had the funds?

Haas are broke aren’t they? How much does it cost to sponsor the worst car in F1 for a season? Probably a lot less then 30 million to buy us?

The administrators of Force India also did their homework when he offered to buy the franchise and told him to jog on.

William Storey went full Peter Odemwingie and rocked up at the SoL in a Sunderland top after a nosey round Jacky White's. Ended up getting himself an interview on BBC Newcastle where he confirmed to everyone that he is indeed absolutely off his tits but speaks very well and seems to have got a few on board. Launched a load of hand grenades at FPP, Donald, Sartori and Newcastle United/Amanda Stavely but said he loves the Sunderland fans. He seemed very confident in his backers and his bid to buy the club, pretty much claiming he'd break the wage cap as well as he's not a lawyer and couldn't give a fuck. In a late twist to proceedings, he's now in a busy Sunderland boozer with none other than Jim Rodwell and Dave Jones and everyone's gone a bit mental. Don't think I've missed anything pal.
f***ing hell man

The bit i find strange is why he is with Rodwell tonight, surely if another group had exclusivity the club wouldn’t be meeting with other interested parties?
If they had an actual meeting planned I would have thought it would have taken place earlier and somewhere private especially when he was at the stadium earlier. If they have actually met up I would say its probably down to the fact hes just rocked up in the area and gone live on the local radio.

I was lead to believe that it is this other group. Those have been the ones in the room. I don't know what's happened in last couple of days to potentially change this though. Nothing may have happened and this is just a huge publicity stunt. I hope so anyway.

If Storey's interview on Total Sport tonight is even half as mental as it sounds then he has to be merely the useful idiot who the club are entertaining to try and get more money from the real buyers surely?!

Thing is, and I get that the other group got you excited, we know nothing about storeys consortium. I know that his chequered past has caused a load of people to assume the worst but there’s still a chance it’s legit and who’s to say it isn’t the best option. We can’t write it off without the facts.
