What a load of old shit. A lamentable batting display. Very England. Yet another test series where they fuck up the first game.

We get out batted all the time apparently even though we rarely lose a series at home

Not as good at home as India Australia and New Zealand. Then bar south Africa we've been crap away for a long time.

We annoyingly lose the odd test at home and sees us draw these 2-3 match series we play.

Still a lot of work for us to do. Hopefully we can go and make it 3-0 so we have a chance of making the test championship final if its gonna take place

I agree he gets judged too harshly imo 17 fifties for a keeper after 40 odd tests is not brilliant but certainly respectful for keeper.

This other argument about some of the games been a specialist batsman is nonsense as he is a keeper/batsman always has been.

When he was picked as a batsman at 5 against the Aussies that was wrong, but what was he supposed to do turn down playing for his country

I couldn't watch live, today. So I just watched the highlights. That has to be one of the best England victories ever! Much respect to Jos Buttler. He stepped up, despite it all.

On that basis, it’s getting better.

It’s not getting worse. Overall, at worst you could say it’s roughly staying the same as what’s gone before, but he’s played some important knocks in amongst there.

Career of scores? His record is good. He’s played out of skin and won us the game here, he deserves a lot of credit. He’s come in for lots of undeserved stick on here, so it’s good to see.

I’m almost tempted to say it’s a shame the rat’s banned.

In fairness, this test was the worst it's been. Normally he won't lose you much, but he won't win you anything behind the stumps either.

This Test, though, showed his limitations as a keeper - especially heading to the subcontinent.

Don’t get the fascination with 100s. He’s got 16 50s. How many of those was he stranded with the tail, or out chasing quick runs?
His record as a batsman was not awful, as a keeper it is good, and it’s getting better.
