1 wicket out of 20 for nearly a hundred runs at a relatively poor economy rate.

Broad 6 wickets, Archer and Woakes 4 a piece. Stokes 2 in one innings only.

He's not as affective away from home and poor in Blighty this summer. Time up Jim I'm afraid.

He’s been very unlucky, beaten the outside edge many times and had drops in both innings iirc. He’s looking slightly less threatening than the start of last summer imo but still a class act that has got a bit more left, injury permitting, I think.

It’s about as good an argument as basing a decline on one match

He’s had an average summer. And he’s going to get more injuries, but his form over the last 3 years has been exceptional

He's had a very poor summer. He shouldn't have been selected for this game. 6 wickets in 6 innings. He's poor away from these shores, he'll be a year older next summer.

Time to take the decision out of his hands.

Are we ignoring the obvious elephant in the room? Covid-19 = no saliva on ball = very hard to keep the ball shiny = no, or very little swing.

Broad has always been more of a seam bowler than a swinger so it's no surprise he's getting wickets. Same goes for Woakes
Jimmy relies on conventional swing of which there has been very little

A few of my mates were saying the same thing but there's too many variables this summer to say anything

TBH It wouldn't surprise me if Anderson tears it up in the coming games

It's becoming a regular occurrence now writing off the old guard, only for it to be followed by a gentle reminder of how good they can be

No definitely not. As soon as a player gets older and has a couple of ordinary games you always get questions asked. However his pace is where it should be and he has exactly the same skills. He will have plenty more good days for England IMO. May miss out next test due to rotation tho.

Perhaps I should have said relatively poor. His average is in the mid 30's everywhere but the Caribbean. Mid 20's in England. He's far less effective away from seamer friendly tracks in England.
So are most of our seamers
It’s common knowledge
All about opinion....I still think Jimmy has a lot to offer...for me, Archer is the big disappointment. Bowling some rubbish. And his batting appears to be getting worse.
Spot on mate

Is he finished no, are the signs worrying, yes.
No wickets in the 2nd innings this summer (yes he has been unlucky with some drops)
But
He is the 1st name for that Adelaide day nighter next year, and he deserves to have a farewell test in England in front of a packed house (preferably after the Ashes, as I wouldn't want him to retire in Oz)
