Newcastle fans feel like holidaymakers who turn up at the airport supposedly bound for a five-star Caribbean holiday only to end up being redirected to a two-star hotel on the English coast amid a particularly cold and rainy summer.

Quite appropriate comment in the middle of a pandemic when many people have had fancy holidays cancelled and are instead holidaying in the UK. And many are getting on with it and accepting it. And enjoying just being away

Anyone who understands what the Man City owners have done for huge swathes of Manchester by way of regeneration will appreciate the heartbreaking loss of investment into our weak and neglected region.

That is what the manoeuvrings of the Premier League with the connivance of the Qataris and no little encouragement from other PL clubs have cost Newcastle United and the communities around it. Understandably, Sunderland fans can laugh about the huge, historic blow this represents for Newcastle United but they should not under-estimate what they have lost too in their lives outside the race to the bottom world of NE football rivalry.

😂 have to admit that I’m devastated not to have the Saudis corrupting local councils and inflating city centre property prices, while turning the tossers into world beaters.

No matter what’s going on, Martin always finds space for a word about us, doesn’t he?

A man who was so outraged at Adam Johnson's crime, he mentioned it every day for about 2 years yet, here is a regime which only outlawed the forced marriage of little girls (as young as 8) a year ago and even then, special cases (whatever they are) are allowed. He's now claiming the north east as a whole has missed-out.
What an utterly cretinous hypocrite the 'man' is.

In all seriousness, thanks fuck this didn’t happen.

As a Sunderland fan obviously didn’t want there to be any prospect of them being strong.

But more importantly this horrific regime should not be able to whitewash their ways by sneaking into western culture through this kind of shit.

If some other brilliant billionaire takes over NUFC then I won’t be happy, but good luck to them.

This however is fantastic. Fuck the Saudi “government”.

Social media is full of mags saying we are thick cos this would have been massive for the area and that it would enrich the north east. Not one of us wanted them to be stinking rich and getting to Man City’s level on the field and financially especially while we are still ran by Ian Beale, At the minute it’s bad enough being two leagues apart while they have Ashley. Let’s just say if it was the other way around we all know how they would behave and they would be going on exactly like we are now. What will be will be.

Personally i’d love us to be both took over and challenging for top division titles consistently which would be great for the area and rivalry but i’d love to see them drop down to this level for a few seasons before any of that for a bit of karma. That would be nice.

Probably not, but now it's going to have to.
Not necessarily, it clearly depends on the conditions contained within the pre-purchase agreement. The money may well have been placed via a bank guarantee in favour of the shareholders of NUFC and could only have been called, in the event that PIF pulled out prior to its backstop expiry date. The deposit therefore not having an indefinite validity.

The takeover would not benefit the area. It’s the Saudis and the deal would only benefit them.

Exactly mate. The average joe in the area would be no better off in my opinion so they can fuck off with their tripe they keep spouting.

Well I must say Newcastle fans are handling this very well.
No hysteria at all. They’ve taken the news with their customary grace, intelligence and humility.

Nailed on. I don’t know what this community angle is that they’ve been wittering on about. Drivel.

The voices of opposition to this deal - many of whom had points that deserved the fairest of hearings - will move on tomorrow. They won't think of Newcastle United again. But fans are left picking up the pieces.

It's this quote above which angers me.
Opposition voices including families of those who were imprisoned, murdered and dismembered at the hands of the saudi regime will 'move on tomorrow's
But it's the Newcastle fans that are the hard done by ones and left to pick up the pieces!?

Are they for f***ing real? The worse kind of deluded, self-entitled, arrogant, morons going.

Agree totally. Journalists are the lowest.
