If only there some ODIs to fill the time.

I didn't realise there was just over one week between this test and the first vs Pakistan, bowlers really need to be looked after.

They may be ranked 7th in the world but they’re excellent. Mind blowing cricketers. And it’s disrespectful and borderline worrying to suggest otherwise
Can’t wait always great cricket when they’re in the country. Like the West Indies they save their best for us as well

Yep, ditto. And fantastic they have come over.

a country I would really like to visit for cricket actually, lack of booze aside

On the basis of our Chennai experience it blows your mind for a couple of days (in a good way) but the grime got to us soon after. Sri Lanka has a nicer balance.

If it’s like Bangladesh the English get the hotels to sort drink for them in advance - Poledancer (RIP) was meant to have sorted some brilliant nights there in 2010.

Chennai is a mad place at the best of times!

Can see this series going a similar way to West Indies. Pakistan have a strong pace attack (Abbas, Shah, Afridi) but lack strength in depth to rotate. Batting wise other than Azam they are shaky as well. 2-1 England

Afridi just turned 20, and Shah is 17 - both are clearly first choice and for very good reason. 18 year old Musa on the bench - typical Pakistani scenario here.

Would be nice of old man Amir to volunteer for a game - Wahab Riaz and Shinwari on the bench, but probably not good choices in Tests. With Abbas, I think they have plenty of bowling though - I agree batting is the issue.

Shan Masood was in the runs in their last home series and has plenty of experience in England - was at Durham Uni IIRC. The captain Azhar Ali is beloved at Summerset - used to these conditions, but it starts and ends with Babar.

Fawad Alam is the sleeper in the squad - been dominating domestic first class cricket in Pakistan for several years (leading run scorer multiple times) but always left out of the national team. Was last seen playing a Test in 2009, but should have a place since Harris Sohail dropped out on COVID concerns. One to watch.
