Surely Hain should have been picked ahead of Denly and Vince

harsh on hain and salt (100 from 58 balls yesterday for England lions)

Billings is WK, not sure if id give Bairstow the gloves tbf

Ed Smith good friends with him, Ed Smith Selector 2+2=

No reason not to give Bairstow the gloves here and play another batsman
Sam f***ing Billings. He’s a crap Jos Buttler.

Wonder if he can play tests...

Sam Billings of Kent, former county of Ed Smith? I don't know how he keeps getting the chances. Still think of him as a young guy with potential, he's 29 now.
I can't imagine Ed Smith makes selections based on who his mates are. That would make no sense at all when he is judged by the performance of the team

The Denly selection is barmy - he's not going to be around for the next WC (and you assume selection now is all geared towards that tournament) so why give him games?

He'll find a spot for Denly at the next WC, even if it is as the kit man.

Topley will be launched into orbit, when we play the Indians, australia, windies, Pakistan, new zealand

iirc he is left handed? That may offer variety but not on overseas shores where the next World Cup will be played

Willey and Sam Curran have us covered for left handers anyway

Billings and Denly ffs. As someone said earlier in the thread Billings is living off his young kid with potential tag that he seems to have had forever. He’s never going to make it in international cricket, give someone else a chance.

I just don't get it with Denly, Vince and Dawson. They've all had chances and not taken them. It's not like we need experience in the team, we've still got Roy, Bairstow, Morgan, Rashid, Ali, Willey to provide that. Given that this is half a B team it was surely the time to throw in some younger players and see how they do.
