There may be 2 issues. I'm assuming if Staveley loses her court case she will then fail the Directors test.

Secondly it may have been rejected already and the Saudis will not announce it and the Mags carry on as usual. They are laying off catering staff (sadly) and have given contracts to Carroll and that keeper. It may be business as usual and let it blow over. Fair to say if Qatar buy Leeds its dead

AS was suing Barclays, it wasn't a criminal trial.

No idea, but you referred to her failing the directors test.
Sorry didn't realise it wasnt a criminal case. She will lose credibility if she loses I'm guessing but you're correct. Mind it is against one of the PL biggest sponsors so may go some way to a no

You all paint a very simple picture. The Fish saying just give them c60m and that will solve the problem...why should BEIN accept that and walk away? This is manna from heaven for lawyers.

Of course it's simplified, I'm not a corporate bigwig. I'm clearly just using back of a fag packet maths and laymen's common sense. I've no doubt BEIN will demand the moon on a stick, but essentially the way this should have been handled if KSA want an English Premier League side is; announce anti-piracy measures, compensate BEIN, pay for domestic broadcast rights. At the very least it would appear conciliatory and reasonable.

They hate each other and so there is no way they will compensate BEIN. The desire to buy Newcastle is minuscule compared to the bitterness towards Qatar.

Don't doubt that at all, we're entirely msall fry, just have to look at the other deals struck by PIF while this takeover is stuck in the O&D test.

re: the first bit, they wouldn't even have to compensate BEIN directly. Roll it into the broadcast deal with the PL or whatever. Can't we all just get along

To be honest, the PL should have ended this months ago. Found MBS unfit due to piracy, or fraud, murder, or whatever, then tried to fight the piracy through the courts. At least then everybody could have got on with their f***ing lives and you wouldn't have had 17 weeks of sadsacks on Flight RADAR.

This is purely conjecture but I wonder if they passed the O&D weeks or even months ago, and then the piracy issue blew up, and now the PL don't know which way to turn.

That's a bit of an absurd thing to assume.

why on earth would you fail the O&D because a legal case didn't go in your favour?

I would think if it's going this way the EPL will compensate BeIN £X for the loss of potential audience, and take KSA out of the MENA package and then sell the KSA an individual package at £X+Y and make a bucket load in the process .... ching ching
