It does if you ignore all context. They've been ahead of us pretty much all season and most likely still would have been if they hadn't had games postponed.
The bookies never fancied them to go up, they also have tough fixtures on paper. 8th looked most likely.

People on here in the Ross season said games in hand don’t count, it’s about points on the board. They were proven right. We finished higher than Wycombe. Fact.

They were in total freefall when the regular season ended as well so no guarantee they'd have got anything from their 2 games in hand.

I couldn't care less who the bookies fancied.
Either way we finished above them. For decades pundits have said points on the board are superior to any games in hand. Games of football are decided on the pitch. For Wycombe to go up would be a travesty. If there’s any justice Oxford turn this around.

It's such a nonsense statement that I don't even think you believe it mate.

Beating Fleetwood over 2 legs and then hopefully beating Oxford in the final. Promotion would be well earned if that is to be the case.
Funny how the mind plays tricks having looked at their fixtures. For some reason I thought that they had been getting battered just about every week throughout January and February but obviously not
Anarr. I remember them having a bit of a slump but then turning it around before lockdown. Was still surprised like.

This post has been full of people saying how shite we are and it’s all warranted, and yet we still finished above them. It’s effectively a false promotion. In the way Wigan’s relegation should it occur be a false relegation.

We bottled the end in monumental fashion though
It was the only the end in hindsight. The government were happy for another round of games to occur, if they did the composition of the top 6 would have changed, as it did after pretty much every result throughout the season. To be not given a chance of promotion despite being 3 points off 2nd and having to still play the team in 2nd is nothing short of disgraceful.

It wasn't likely to change for the positive for us at that moment. We'd just drawn at home to Gillingham and lost at Bristol Rovers with Peterborough up next, I believe.
