Boris may well say it can go ahead but if you think the premier League wouldnt use expert opinions from the WTO and an expert in international trade as justification to not let the takeover go ahead you are seriously naive.

Like another poster has alluded to. The premier League is a mature product. It doesn't need Saudi money.

If they think the Saudis are going to be more chew than the extra money they'd receive (which isn't guaranteed) they'll block it and due to the WTO report legally there wouldn't be a thing Pif could do to challenge it

As I said in post 2,367, it may very well be the premier league who make their final decision and they have the courage of their conviction to do so.
Until they do so they will have and have had third parties contribute to their decision. The WTO have published their report and then we’ve had everybody from Khassogi to Richard Keys saying their bit.
With regards to the government I make only one point, that being post Brexit they need as much non EU investment they can get. The foreign minister has made that perfectly clear since Brexit and has gone onto specifically talked about this deal this week.
Of course the govt will be leaning on the PL to sign off, it ticks every box for them. Some bloke from a minority party is not going to sway in the slightest a party who has instigated Brexit and now desperately chases outside deals. Like I say, the PL may and are perfectly entitled to not listen to the government at all.

It goes beyond Saudi and Qatar though.

One of the reasons TV Rights are so expensive is that they are supposedly exclusive.

If they let the deal through, it sets a precedent and lowers the value of its product.

It will be very hard for the PL to sell its product as "Exclusive" to the likes of Amazon. If you were Amazon could you trust the PL would keep things as Exclusive after they ignored BeIN and allowed the deal to go through?

It would be a very awkward scenario to think that the Country which allowed piracy would be allowed to benefit through NUFC and the PiF) from legitimate TV money.

To be Perfectly honest, I’m no expert about Middle Eastern piracy, selling onto Amazon or the finer details in it all. You may be well right.
With regards to that, I can only go off what I’ve read ( and I’ve read pretty much all of it with plenty time on my hands ) and the general consensus from professionals seems to be that whilst the WTO have pointed the finger at KSA, that doesn’t also mean it relates to the buy out of NUFC.
Like I say though , you may very well be right.
