I reckon the Secretary of State for international trade being asked to decline international trade from a major ally, by a back bencher of the SNP, will break the record for quickest deleted email ever.

Instinct. Man's a born fighter.

Love that there appears to be a belief that this moron planned to punch a horse. Jesus and indeed wept.

I think the tide is turning on the deal.

The premier league probably have 1 or 2 big TV deals left and just like with limewire and napster, with music, the Saudi's have shown it is possible to give it away for free. What is to stop someone in a non-WTO country like N Korea, Iran etc...doing the same. Without protection of intellectual property the value of the TV rights tends towards nothing.

In my head I see loads of people from the premier league desperately trying to find ways of blocking the deal like.

Other clubs?

No mate the PL powers that be. It’s the piracy issue, I don’t think they care about any ethics. I imagine them looking at the WTO report and just desperately trying to argue that it’s against the fit and proper persons test
it’s rapidly becoming the Govt v the PL battling between a major dispute between KSA and Quatar.

Will the government stay out of it and If so for how long?

I think the government will be heavily leaning on the PL to green light. The foreign secretary this week has publicly thanked KSA for their generosity with Covid and has now publicly weighed in with saying Saudi investment should be welcomed.
Remember, we’re a country who has just severed links with our Euro partners and who are actively seeking major foreign investment. This ticks every box in their eyes.

Whatever the decision I would expect a legal challenge from someone either way.

The MP for international trade has called KSAs reaction to the WTO appalling.

You continue with that selective reading though 😂
