A very powerful moment in British sport

Looking forward to the absolute sh*t storm thats coming the next time any team or individual is told that they are not allowed to make any political statement. They've set a precedent.
This is a very political organization. Every organization has some very good points like everyone else we all must stop racism, but some parts of this organization acts on vandalism & terrorism. 89 Police officiers in the US have lost there lives while on duty. Yes police policies & procedures need to be reviewed in the US. I ask you this has nothing to do with honoring your country. Kneeling in front of the National Anthem is disrespectful in my eyes. I have always said follow the money & since Left wing NBC in the US which is the EPL largest customer & paying there bills the EPL is following suit. Most US corporations do not allow political statements or political talk in the work place. Why is the EPL doing it? Like I said follow the money.

I live in america and I have had a few friends who have expressed anger towards it as well. I can understand getting tired of it but it's nice to see different countries coming together for once. I think everybody's emotions are just a little more raw with the pandemic.

However, I do wish another case was getting some of the same publicity. A couple weeks ago a 24year old white man was being chased by cops and jumped into a river. Instead of helping the man, police mocked him as he eventually drowned. It was caught on video.

Which shows me that some cops arent racist but are just sociopaths with the right to kill. Anyway, I'm just glad to see this movement in our countries because of the much needed change to policing. There are a lot of good cops out there but there are still too many who cause more damage than good.

Reminder - if you’re against BLM then you’re a mouth breathing racist...plain and simple.

A very successful and effective way of shutting down any discussion around the aims and intentions of black lives matter.

If you think that challenging aspects of what black lives matter advocate and have some reservations about their beliefs around institutionalised racism then you are just as ill informed as those that keep shouting 'all lives matter'.

I dont even know what they were, ask them again

I don't even know you, but you come across as big ego , low self esteem

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do I now? Like I give a fuck.

It doesn't show you anything of the sort🤷🏻‍♀️

The grasp of logic and standard of rhetoric on here is depressingly low these days.
That story sounds absolutely shocking. I think there was something similar here but they weren't mocking the person in the water the police just didn't know what to do. I think the official line is something like you shouldn't jump in ponds under any circumstances and they were new officers or PCOs.
Are those officers facing legal action?

There is an obvious tactic though to associate a noble sentiment with a nefarious political movement in order to therefore dismiss the noble sentiment and those that hold it.

Just my opinion but after reading that the Cop involved in the George Floyd killing was a bully I believe he would have acted the way he did whether it was a black or white man he had pinned down. His victim was a big man and the Cop was allegedly a bully.
IMO George Floyd didn’t die because he was black. He died because the Cop who detained him was a bully. Nevertheless, the manner of George Floyds death is a disgrace.

There is an issue with the death of black men and women in custody in America not being investigated and dealt with properly. This is an issue not dependent on occurring only when the death is the result of racism.

even if you disagree with the purpose of the protest, 'taking a knee' seems to be the most effective and most peaceful means of making a statement. most people were quite rightfully arguing, just a couple of weeks ago, that protesting was fine but it must be done peacefully. but when it is done peacefully, it still isn't respected. and therein lies a major problem

maybe god-fearing cooperate america can make a list of acceptable protesting methods?

I don’t give a flying shit about our national anthem. ‘God save the queen’ ‘victorious‘ ‘glorious’. I don’t believe in the monarchy, I’m not religious and the language is all about empire and war not the people or the country. We are weirdly compliant in England. It’s about time things were questioned here - it all needs updating and modernising. Rule Britannia is just wrong based on the power of the armed forces. Not just the racial element - annexing other continents etc - but the fact that the conflicts are often govts sending people to their death to retain the power and wealth of the few. Someone I work with said it’s mad but true how I think about things and I said it was basic level critical thinking Not mad. Loyalty to what exactly ? Horrendous levels of inequality and privilege - and I’m talking class and income here not just race.

A lad in my class said he experiences a form of racism every day. He’s only 13.

Sometimes it’s comes from adults serving him in a shop and even parents taking their children away from him in park when he was small. He said quite a lot of awful comments are directed at him because of his hair.

More needs to be done to make people aware and stop persecutions like this.

totally agree, but the system is set up to indoctrinate kids from the second they are born to believe that they aren't as worthy as our overlords. look at how people go on about royal weddings and the likes. normal, otherwise sane people. when you take a step back and look at it with a bit of perspective, that type of behaviour is not natural.

Black players do - I'm sure other players do.

Do you not want equality?

I am 100% for equality, I have not said otherwise. I stated I was not supportive of Black Lives Matter as a political movement.

People claim they are not bothered about the political intentions of the group, but I do think it is a concern when an organisation as powerful as the Premier League starts endorsing them (by allowing players to feature BLM on their shirts) and it gets to the point where anyone challenging their motivations is immediately shouted down as racist.

100% - The BLM movement is not about just obtaining equality. It has a much wider agenda.
