Keep reading this, yet a maximum of 3 playoff games is going to cost a lot less than it would for the season to be finished, Wycombe for example can afford 3 games but not 9, makes perfect sense.

It doesn't make perfect sense. It's happening and we'll get over it, but it is not fair or right. I think if i was in your position I would be able to acknowledge the unfairness of the decision while also being happy with its outcome. No idea why that seems so hard for so many fans. I can acknowledge that we didn't deserve promotion or feel that we would of got into the playoffs, while still wishing we had the opportunity to try and achieve either.

What a f***ing mess we are in....Third season in Division Three, owners who have raped us, a manager who is clueless [great CV) and a squad full of shite. It doesn’t get any better than this.

And what about the teams that can afford to finish the season, why should they suffer?

I disagree as Rotherham don't deserve automatic promotion and second place was very much there for the taking.
I agree they don’t deserve automatic promotion, but we’d still be settling for play offs if we were in them.

These clubs have the option of playing on and playing another 8/9, potentially 11/12 if they miss out on second and have to settle for the play offs.

Alternatively they can settle for the play offs and gain promotion in 3 games. It’s a no brainier for top 6 clubs, regardless of whether Rotherham are getting preferential treatment or not.

Its a fitting end to this League One season. It began as a farce with Bury, continued to be a farce with Bolton fielding a youth team for two months and it has ended as a farce with this vote.

It is really is as Micky Mouse as it gets. This leagues a complete joke and make it up as they go along...

Having said that it's not as big a joke as the inept owners we currently have, who won't take any accountability for their failure.

well its a parachute payment that paid by the premier league to a team playing in league 1 which not only disadvantages teams in league 1 but rewards failure its totally the same inequity in the system
The way I look at it is parachute payments were in place for years, everyone knew about them so therefore fair. Changing how promotion/relegation happens part way through a season is new to everyone and therefore unfair.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not sour grapes, we don’t deserve to go up as we simply weren’t good enough but changing the rules part way through a season is wrong in my eyes.

Another crack at the Checkatrade and a chance of a trophy. Better than relegation next season

I can understand why clubs would vote in their own favour, of course, but they shouldn't have been given the vote in the first place. Or, the option should have either been complete the season or void it.

6 of the points will have come from teams bartering Bolton and then they were ever so slightly in order by the time it come to other teams. No excuses for us though we should have destroyed them as well.

Yeah but they weren't playing kids when we played them and had just been taken over so were on a mini high. It was a total piss take.

What a f***ing tin pot league this is. Teams whinge on that they can't afford to play on but will happily take the extra play off games. If they want to end the season now the play offs should be scrapped but then the likes of Wycombe amongst a few others would have voted the other way.

The whole thing is a complete farce. Expected it but it's a total joke.

We would of been promoted under this same system has we not lost to Gillingham and Bristol Rovers. You cannot say that it is entirely the EFL and not at least, in part, a problem of our squad and manager.

We should be against the system no matter the outcome, since it’s an unfair system, though?

So it’s completely the designers and acceptors of the bullshit system that are to blame for denying us the opportunity.

If we’d swapped positions with Wycombe, then it would still be unfair.

I don’t blame Parkinson for us never being given a chance to be promoted, just like I don’t think the Wycombe manager has done a fantastic job to get them into a play off position, or that the Rotherham manager has done a great job getting them an automatic promotion place. It’s all unfair, so it makes no difference.

This in a nutshell and anyone suggesting its just sour grapes will find comments from several like minded posters who said it was a joke when implemented elsewhere before it even affected us.

isn't it going to a vote now whether to actually play the remaining games or just go straight to playoffs? so we are still in with a chance?

or is the general consensus that vote will be to head straight to payoffs? obviously top 6 are happy, and the few teams just about the relegation zone, so maybe 10 teams?
