Cummings - one rule for us...

Stories like this are usually released to cause maximum damage to an individual or a government. That's not going to happen - parliamentary scrutiny is on hold, and we won't see Johnson at a brief until next week at the earliest, most likely. So what could have been a finishing blow to Cummings and possibly even Johnson will have been forgotten about by the time either of them are put on the spot about it. Why would the guardian and mirror enable that?

Extra information I want for starters - who Cummings spoke to before going, and who sanctioned it.

Sanctioned it? Are you taking the piss.

He is a government advIsor not the f***ing Prime Minister.

If this were Keir Starmer you’d be all over it like a rash.

Surely he woukd have known it would cause this stink ?

Surely he woukd have let the authorities know in advance what he was doing?

If not it's quite reckless.

I had to drive from Bristol to Newcastle around the same time to attend to my elderly mother( who has partial dementia through stroke but lives alone)

I informed the police who confirmed it could be classed as an urgent journey.

Did he do that I wonder. You wouk think someone in his position would .

They would have instructed him to stay in London

You're doubting the veracity of this story based on your belief that you can't see over the fence at his parents house? (No matter how many times you try)

It was supposedly a neighbour who reported this. Maybe they can see from an upstairs window?

There's no neighbours next to his parents house

Personally I think it’s wrong, if I’d done it I would have expected a slap on the wrists by the authorities, and then a bollocking from my family. However if I’d been in the same situation, and worried about the well being of my four year old, should me and our lass both become incapacitated, of course I’d drive 4 hours to get close to my parents and I’d fight anybody who said I couldn’t, my child would come first.

But but stop trying to politicise it now is not the time n that. This is obviously a non story other for the loony left on here

Well known looney leftie RTG-er Julia Hartley Brewer wading in to the debate. Big corbynite and MLF by all accounts

That should never have happened, it was never banned, people just made assumptions and didn't use common sense.

Set out in the health protection regulations are specific exemptions to the restrictions in movement which by inference ban people who don’t fit these categories from attending funerals

(g)to attend a funeral of—
(i)a member of the person’s household,
(ii)a close family member, or
(iii)if no-one within sub-paragraphs (i) or (ii) are attending, a friend;

Funeral association slams heavy-handed councils for banning ALL mourners from services 'to protect their workers'

"NAFD said such actions go 'way beyond government guidance and isn't in the interests of bereaved families'

All of the front benchers leaping to the defence of an unelected adviser speaks volumes. You have the health secretary saying its fine to ignore the government advice. Once again from these it's career progression over morals and ethics.

If the governments actions to defend its citizens against this outbreak was a quick as the defence of Cummings we wouldn't be sitting on 50k deaths.

Nah - I’m happy to keep going. It’s good sport watching someone scraping the barrel to defend the indefensible rather than making the sensible decision to lie low.

Anything that's not joining in with the mob is categorised as defending the indefensible here. It's the new 'racist' - meaningless because of overuse.

Everyone has neighbours

If it's where I think it is, isn't it next to burnhall where there's apartments etc?

You thinking where the cock of the North used to be? That's the only place I'm aware of that has apartments near the Burn Hall Estate.

Burn Hall has the stately home on there, number of houses scattered about. Don't recall apartments on there
